Interfaith Food Center Feeding the Hungry Since 1983 Interfaith Food Center is a non-faith-based, non-profit 501(c)(3) charity organization.

Our mission is to alleviate hunger by providing compassionate supplemental food services to the hungry, disadvantaged and homeless population of Whittier, La Mirada and Santa Fe Springs. We offer a Food Distribution Program, Homeless Lunch Program, and Emergency Assistance program for residents of Whittier, La Mirada and Santa Fe Springs, California.

🌟 Volunteer Spotlight: Damian and Josie Gutierrez 🌟

This week, we are honored to recognize Damian and Josie Gutierrez for their dedication to serving our community!

Damian has been volunteering with us for 2½ years, and Josie has been volunteering for 1½ years. They first learned about our mission through Neighbors Helping Neighbors at St. Gregory Church. When that program ended, they heard from other volunteers about the work being done here and decided to get involved.

For Damian, volunteering started with a desire to serve the community. He believes that giving back is a meaningful way to spend your time and says that volunteering is rewarding because it allows you to pay it forward. His message to others is simple: volunteering is a worthwhile use of your time and makes a real difference.

Josie joined alongside Damian because she wanted to give back to the community and help those in need. She encourages others to be of service to others, sharing that there is something truly special about helping someone who needs support. According to Josie, it feels good afterwards knowing you've made a difference in someone's life.

🍂🎄 A Huge Thank You to Our Incredible Volunteers! 🎄🍂

This week, our volunteers once again showed what community is all about. Your hard work, dedication, and compassionate hearts make it possible for us to serve families in need every single day. We are so grateful for each and every one of you!

We can't believe the holidays are almost here. At this rate, Thanksgiving is speeding toward us and Christmas is right behind it in the carpool lane! As we head into the holiday season, we're excited to launch our Holiday Food Drive and Gift Card Drive, running October 1 through December 11. These donations help ensure that local families can enjoy a warm holiday meal and have a little extra support during this special time of year.

Whether you'd like to donate food, contribute a gift card, volunteer your time, or help spread the word, every act of kindness makes a meaningful impact.

A huge THANK YOU to all of our incredible volunteers! 💙 Your time, energy, and dedication make a lasting impact on the individuals and families we serve. Every project completed, every helping hand offered, and every hour volunteered helps us strengthen our community and advance our mission.

While we are grateful for everything you do, there is another way you can help make an even greater impact: share our story. Many people in our community still do not know about our program or the services we provide. By sharing our posts, telling friends and family about our organization, and helping spread the word, you can connect more people to the resources and support they need.

Our mission is to provide our community with basic grocery needs. Items include produce, dairy products, meats, bread and canned goods. We also provide a lunch program for those that are experiencing homelessness.

Together, we can continue changing lives and reaching even more members of our community. Thank you for being champions of our mission and making a difference every day!

A heartfelt THANK YOU to all of our incredible volunteers for your dedication, hard work, and generous spirit!

Every car filled, every smile shared, and every hour given helps make a meaningful difference in the lives of families throughout our community. Your commitment allows us to continue serving those in need and reminds us of the power of compassion and service.

VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT: DIANE KIRKPATRICK

Meet Diane Kirkpatrick, a dedicated volunteer who has been serving at the Interfaith Food Center for the past 10 years!

Before becoming a volunteer, Diane and her husband owned and operated five Burger King restaurants for 15 years. After that chapter of her life, Diane felt called to give back and make a difference in the world.

In Diane's words:

"Knowing that what I am doing is helping put food on the table brings joy to my life. Fridays have become my new favorite day of the week."

For the past decade, Diane has faithfully volunteered at the Interfaith Food Center, helping ensure that families in our community have access to nutritious food.

She shares this message for both current and future volunteers:

"Come and help, and know that what you do makes a difference."

Thank you, Diane, for your compassion, commitment, and 10 years of dedicated service. Your kindness and generosity inspire us all, and we are proud to celebrate the impact you continue to make in our community.

Today, we want to extend our deepest gratitude to the incredible volunteers who make the Interfaith Food Center's mission possible. Every bag packed, every smile shared, and every hour donated creates a lasting impact in the lives of our neighbors facing food insecurity and hardship.

Your compassion, dedication, and willingness to serve help provide more than just food. You offer hope, dignity, and stability to families during some of the most difficult times in their lives. Because of you, community members know they are not alone.

One of those community members is Carol, whose story reminds us why this work matters so much:

✨ Carol's Story: A Journey Toward Stability and Hope ✨

"I started coming to IFC at the beginning of COVID when I struggled to find food resources for my family. I learned about IFC at the local city hall. After my husband passed away, I was overwhelmed by depression and anxiety. I became the full-time caregiver for my son, who has autism, and it was impossible for me to find work while meeting his needs.

Today, I'm thankful beyond words. I only receive $310 in pensions every month, and that barely covers the most basic bills like rent and utilities. There's nothing left for groceries. Food is simply not in my budget. Without IFC, I don't know how I would make ends meet. IFC is a true blessing in my life, helping me keep food on the table and hope in my heart.

I see the impact of IFC every single week when I pick up groceries. My son lights up when he sees fresh fruits and vegetables. It makes me feel like I can still provide for him, even when everything feels so uncertain. This program helps so many neighbors, too. People who, like me, have fallen on hard times but still have so much love to give.

I hope IFC will never stop because it doesn't just fill pantries. It keeps families like mine from being on the street and gives us the stability we need to keep moving forward. Thank you, IFC, for being here for us!"
