A Path to Recovery and Healthy Living We have an HIV Center in Hollywood located on Sunset and our downtown office located Skid Row.

Los Angeles Centers for Alcohol and Drug Abuse is a 501 c3 nonprofit organization that provides services to people with substance abuse problems. We have five offices in Los Angeles County with our main office in Santa Fe Springs along with our residential treatment centers: New Visions and the Allen House.

Dr. Burns serves as the Associate Medical Director for Harm Reduction and Prevention at the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health’s Substance Abuse Prevention and Control Bureau (DPH-SAPC), bringing valuable expertise in harm reduction, overdose prevention, and public health.

A New Chapter Starts With One Decision

When Taylor connected with L.A. CADA’s Outreach Team, they were looking for a safe place to begin making meaningful changes. After listening to Taylor’s needs and goals, our team worked quickly to connect them with the appropriate treatment services and provide a warm handoff into residential care.

Just weeks later, Taylor’s progress has been remarkable. During a recent check-in, our team found Taylor engaging with staff and peers, participating in activities, and looking forward to completing the program and taking the next step in their recovery journey.

Taylor shared that they “haven’t felt this good in a long time” and is looking forward to continuing with L.A. CADA’s services as they work toward greater stability and permanent housing.

Stories like Taylor’s highlight the importance of meeting people where they are, listening to what they need, and connecting them with compassionate, coordinated care. From outreach and treatment to recovery support and housing, L.A. CADA remains committed to walking alongside individuals through every step of their journey.

Every journey to stability starts with someone who cares.

After experiencing years of housing instability, Fidel recently moved into a long-term residential care home where he now has the stability, support, and accessibility he needs to thrive.

Finding the right placement took time, trust, and collaboration. Throughout the process, L.A. CADA's Alhambra Outreach Team remained committed to meeting Fidel where he was, building a strong relationship, coordinating with healthcare and housing partners, and advocating for the services that best fit his unique needs.

Today, Fidel is settling into his new home and continues to express his gratitude for the support he received along the way. His story is a powerful reminder that recovery, housing stability, and hope are possible when compassionate outreach meets individualized care.

Through our San Gabriel Valley Homeless Outreach Program, L.A. CADA proudly serves Alhambra, Arcadia, Azusa, Glendora, Rosemead, and West Covina, connecting individuals experiencing homelessness with housing, supportive services, and pathways toward long-term stability.
