Marty Ruybalid, St. Elizabeth Shelters executive director died suddenly at home on Friday, March 13.

“We are deeply saddened by his untimely death,” said Kathryn Ugoretz, former president of the Board of Directors. “During his time at St. Elizabeth he exhibited great passion, keen organizational insight and an obvious love for the work he did. This sudden loss has shocked the entire St. Elizabeth family. Yet while we grieve, we will strive to honor his memory by staying focused on our clients and the work he championed.”

For the moment, St. Elizabeth has split overall administration of the organization between two staff members from its Men’s Emergency Shelter, Riyah Garcia and Nick Svetnicka, while an executive search is undertaken. In addition, Edward Archuleta, St. Elizabeth’s former executive director, has agreed to serve in a consulting role as needed through this transition.

It is with a heavy heart that I share the news of Maria Lopez's passing. She was a pillar of strength and compassion, not only for her family but for the community she served. Her battle with Cholangiocarcinoma was courageous, and despite the challenges, she faced each day with hope and resilience. Now, as her family navigates this difficult time, they are seeking support to honor her memory and fulfill her final wishes. The financial burden of her care has been overwhelming, and any assistance would be deeply appreciated. Your kindness can help ease this strain and allow her family to focus on cherishing the moments they have left. Thank you for considering a contribution to support Maria's care and legacy.

Best regards,

Family & Friends, We are deeply grieved at the loss of our mother, sister, aunt, … Eric Lopez needs your support for Support Maria’s Care and Final Wishes
