🚨Notice for New Mexicans:

The federal government entered a shutdown phase October 1, 2025, and the length of the shutdown can’t be predicted.

However, the New Mexico Department of Health (NMDOH) will remain open and continue to provide necessary services to our communities throughout the state. Follow us to receive updates on New Mexico WIC, public health programs, vaccine information and health education.

You can continue to call our NMDOH Helpline at 1-800-SWNURSE (1-800-796-8773) to speak to a nurse for help with medical-related questions, finding vaccines, and more. Find upcoming program events at https://www.facebook.com/nmdoh/events

Starting Feb. 15, New Mexico seniors can apply for the Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program.

The program helps income-eligible seniors and elders receive a shopper card with a one-time annual benefit to buy locally grown fresh fruits, vegetables, herbs, and honey at participating farmers’ markets and roadside stands statewide.

Seniors can apply online at nmwic.org. You can also pick up a paper application at any public health office, WIC office, senior center, or Area Agency on Aging center.

A partir del 15 de febrero, las personas mayores de Nuevo México pueden solicitar el Programa de Nutrición de Mercados de Agricultores para Personas Mayores.

El programa ayuda a las personas mayores y ancianos con ingresos elegibles a recibir una tarjeta de comprador con un beneficio anual único para comprar frutas, vegetales, especias y miel frescos cultivados localmente en los mercados de agricultores y puestos de venta ambulante participantes en todo el estado.
