Inspectors with NMRLD’s newly formed Elevator Bureau recently witnessed Category 1 and Category 5 full load testing, NFPA fire code compliance, and NEC and IBC compliance in a 9-story parking structure as required by statute.
The bureau inspects new installations, modernized equipment, and major repairs to ensure safety code compliance with the national standards (ASME A17.1) to assure the units are safe to ride and operate, and that they are safety code-compliant for public use.
We work with elevator contractors and property owners to maintain operational and safety code compliance, and with the elevator service companies to ensure routine maintenance and repairs are performed safely and meet or exceed the State NMAC requirements.
Do you have questions about how elevators work, their safety features, or how they’re constructed? Let us know in the comments.
