During June, the State Personnel Office commemorates Caribbean-American Heritage Month, honoring the achievements and contributions made by Caribbean-Americans throughout history. The State Personnel Office honors, values, and supports Caribbean-American employees and community members.

Caribbean-American Heritage Month was first adopted by the House of Representatives in 2005, sponsored by Congresswoman Barbara Lee. In 2006, President George W. Bush officially proclaimed June as National Caribbean-American Heritage month. Nearly 20 years later, presidential proclamations have been issued annually recognizing Caribbean-American Heritage Month and honoring the rich culture of Caribbean-American Heritage.
