Community Partners In Caring

Community Partners In Caring We serve Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo Counties This allows our older seniors to realistically age in place.

Established in 1997, Community Partners in Caring is a Volunteer organization that recruits, screens, trains, and matches volunteers with clients 62+ and 18+ with disabilities with little to no support. Our mission is to provide volunteer support services that allow our senior population to live independently while maintaining dignity, respect, and quality of life. The seniors we serve reside in

the North Santa Barbara County area, lack the support network as well as the financial means to get the help they need. Our services include: free of charge door-through-door local transportation to health related appointments as well as the grocery store; friendly visits, help with yard work, and reassurance phone calls (to check in on those who live alone). We are building up other services: minor home repairs, respite care, help with paperwork and help with light house cleaning. We've recently implemented an intergenerational volunteer program that brings youth and the elderly together in mutually meaningful activities, such as youth teaching seniors how to reconnect/stay connected with loved ones through video chat and other social media apps. At Community Partners in Caring, WE LIVE the word "CARING," not only in the way we serve our seniors, but in the way we appreciate our volunteers, treat our staff/board members, partner agencies, and the public. We invite you to live the word "caring" through us by supporting our work.

πŸ’§ Happy National Hydration Day β€” and yes, we know it's past 4pm. Have you had enough water today? We didn't think so. Go grab a glass, we'll wait. πŸ«—

Did you know seniors are at significantly higher risk of dehydration than younger adults? As we age, our sense of thirst diminishes β€” meaning many older adults don't realize they need water until dehydration has already set in. In summer heat, that can become a medical emergency fast.

Here are 4 easy hydration tips to share with a senior you love:

πŸ’§ Keep a water bottle or pitcher within arm's reach at all times
πŸ‰ Eat water-rich foods like watermelon, cucumber, and strawberries
⏰ Set hourly reminders or drink a full glass with every medication
🚫 Limit alcohol and caffeine β€” they work against hydration

At Community Partners in Caring, our Friendly Caller volunteers check in regularly with seniors across Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo Counties β€” and a simple phone call can be the reminder that keeps someone safe on a hot summer day. πŸ’›

Want to volunteer with us or do you know a senior who could use a friendly check-in this summer? We'd love to help.

Wellness Wednesday | This week's tip: Managing Your Medications

Did you know the average senior takes 5 or more prescription medications daily? Managing multiple prescriptions can quickly become overwhelming β€” and a missed or doubled dose can have serious health consequences.

Here are 4 simple tips to stay on track:

βœ… Use a weekly pill organizer β€” sort medications every Sunday so you always know what's been taken

βœ… Keep a master medication list β€” include name, dose, timing, and prescribing doctor; bring it to every appointment

βœ… Set a daily alarm β€” same time every day builds a routine that's hard to forget

βœ… Use one pharmacy β€” a single pharmacist can catch dangerous drug interactions before they happen

At Community Partners in Caring, our volunteer drivers make sure seniors across Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo Counties can get to their pharmacy and doctor appointments β€” because managing your health starts with access. πŸ’›

Happy National Fresh Veggies Day! πŸ₯¦πŸ₯•πŸŒ½

For many seniors and adults with disabilities across Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo Counties, eating fresh and healthy isn't just a lifestyle choice β€” it's a challenge. No car, no nearby family, and limited mobility can make a simple trip to the grocery store feel impossible.

That's where our incredible volunteers come in. Every week, they shop for and deliver fresh groceries to seniors who need a helping hand β€” making sure our neighbors have access to the nutritious food they deserve to stay healthy and independent at home. πŸ’›

Today is World Elder Abuse Awareness Day β€” and it's a day we take very seriously. 🚨

Elder abuse takes many forms β€” financial exploitation, emotional manipulation, neglect, and isolation. And one of the most powerful protections against it? Connection. Seniors who have regular contact with caring, trusted people in their lives are far less vulnerable to those who would take advantage of them.

That's exactly why the work of Community Partners in Caring matters so much. Every volunteer driver, every friendly caller, every errand runner isn't just providing a service β€” they're providing a lifeline of trust, safety, and human connection for older adults across Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo Counties. πŸ’›

This World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, help us reach more seniors who need that connection.

Today is National Loving Day β€” a day that reminds us love, dignity, and equal care belong to everyone. πŸ’›

At Community Partners in Caring, that's not just a belief β€” it's how we show up every single day. Every senior we serve, every ride we give, every grocery bag we deliver, every friendly phone call we make says the same thing: you matter, you belong, and you are not alone.

Across Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo Counties, our volunteers show up for older adults and adults with disabilities of every background, every story, every walk of life β€” because caring has no exceptions. πŸ™

This Loving Day, we're grateful for every volunteer who embodies that spirit. And if you're looking for a way to love your community a little louder β€” we'd love to have you on our team. πŸ’›

Today is National Making Life Beautiful Day β€” and we know exactly who makes life beautiful in our community. 🌟

It's the volunteer who shows up every Tuesday to drive a senior to her doctor. The one who delivers groceries with a warm smile. The one who calls just to say "I'm thinking of you." πŸ’›

To every CPC volunteer: YOU make life beautiful. Thank you. πŸ™
