🏍️ Coastal Division Motor Competition 🏍️

What a great week in Santa Maria! The Coastal Division Motor Competition brought together CHP motorcycle officers and riders from allied agencies for a challenging course designed to put their motorcycle skills, precision, control, and determination to the test. 💪🏍️

These competitions are about much more than speed—they’re about skill, safety, discipline, and teamwork. Every rider pushed themselves, supported their fellow competitors, and demonstrated the professionalism that comes with being a motor officer. 👏🔥

A special shout-out to all of the riders who came out to compete representing their agencies with pride. 🤝🏆

Congratulations to everyone who participated and helped make this year’s competition a success! 🏍️💨👏

🎒📚 Welcome Back to School! 🚌🍎

The school year is here, and we’re excited to welcome students, parents, teachers, and school staff back for another great year! 💙 As classrooms fill and school buses hit the road, let’s all do our part to keep everyone safe.

🚸 Drivers:
🛑 Slow down in school zones and obey posted speed limits.
👀 Stay alert for children crossing the street—they can be unpredictable.
🚌 STOP when a school bus has its red lights flashing and stop arm extended. The lives of our children depend on it.
📵 Put the phone away and eliminate distractions while driving.

🚌 School Bus Riders:
✅ Arrive at your bus stop early.
🚶 Walk—not run—to and from the bus.
↔️ Stay at least 12 feet away from the bus until the driver signals it’s safe to approach.
👀 Always look both ways before crossing the street, even after getting off the bus.

🚶‍♀️ Students Walking or Biking to School:
🚦 Use crosswalks whenever possible.
👂 Stay alert—keep your eyes up and headphones down.
🚴 Wear a properly fitted helmet every ride.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Parents & Caregivers:
🚗 Plan a little extra travel time during the first few weeks of school.
💛 Be patient during busy drop-off and pick-up times.
👋 Talk with your children about safe walking, biking, and bus riding habits before they head out the door.

Together, we can make this school year a safe and successful one for everyone. Let’s watch out for one another and help every student arrive safely at school—and back home again! 💙🚔

A major traffic collision involving a semi-truck and two other vehicles has occurred on SR 166 near Mile Post 72. Emergency crews are currently en route, and the roadway is blocked while rescue operations are underway. Please avoid the area.
