Engine 335 was first one scene of the Madre Fire. Estimated at 40 acres, 97 degrees, 17% RH, winds were 15-20mph out of the South West with fuel moisture below critical at 58%. There was not much we could do. We took the left flank and established an anchor point with a progessive hoselay. The fire showed rapid rates of spread with extreme fire behavior. The crew worked throughout the night to secure DIV A!

E-335 was first on scene to a structure fire into the vegetation. Unfortunately due to the remote location (Foothills of the Sierra Madre) the house was fully involved by the time we arrived. Thankfully no injuries or loss of animals were reported. On scene resources included: LPF E-337, 372, PT-37, WT-323, BC-32, DIV-3, SBC E-327, 117, 318, WT-327, BC-18, SMC E-5, Air Attack and helicopter 964.

E-335 and PT-34 were first on scene of a vehicle 100 feet over the side of highway 166. With the assistance from SBC, Calfire, Santa Maria City, CHP Air 71 with infrared capabilities we conducted an extensive search for victims. Fortunately, none were found. They must have been picked up by passersby and hopefully taken to the hospital!
