The New Zealand All Whites were given a warm San Diego welcome with an open training session yesterday. 🇳🇿🇺🇸

Hosted by the University of San Diego at Terero Stadium, the event brought together local school groups, community members, and city leaders - including Mayor Todd Gloria - for a fantastic show of support.

Representing the New Zealand Consulate, Trade Commissioner Rip Takhar officially welcomed the team to California and wished them every success as their World Cup campaign kicks off on Monday.

Thanks for having us All Whites - we’ll be cheering you on all the way!

It was an honor for Consul General Katja Ackerley to speak at the closing plenary of the Select LA 2026 Investment Summit.

The session, “State of Play: Global Trade in 2026,” was an opportunity to reflect on how New Zealand has navigated global headwinds and continues to demonstrate resilience through openness to trade, investment and partnership.

Founded in New Zealand, Halter is an agritech company bringing software-driven ranch management to US beef and dairy operations. Its solar powered, GPS enabled smart collars let ranchers create and move virtual fences from a smartphone - eliminating miles of wire, reducing labour, and unlocking precision grazing across large, remote landscapes.

Since launching in the US in 2024, American ranchers have built more than 60,000 miles of virtual fencing using Halter, and the company now supports 2,000+ ranchers globally across New Zealand, Australia, and the United States. A phenomenal achievement in such a short time, and they're just getting going!

Consul-General Ackerley got to see the product firsthand during her visit to Montana alongside Halter sales representative Joshua Morrison on their visit to Lane Legacy Ranch.

Ackerley said “Halter is an outstanding example of New Zealand innovation at its best. Seeing it in use on the Lane Legacy ranch shows how Kiwi ingenuity can lead globally."

Congratulations to the team at Halter, we wish you ongoing success here in the US.

We were delighted to share a taste of Aotearoa New Zealand in Los Angeles recently, hosting Minister for Tourism and Hospitality Louise Upston MP at the Official Residence for two world class events.

The events showcased New Zealand food, beverages, visitor experiences, and our unique hospitality to travel partners and media in one of our most important international visitor markets.

Minister Upston shared the message that when tourism grows, New Zealand grows. We were pleased to work in partnership with Air New Zealand, 100% Pure New Zealand and regional tourism organisations to support stronger people to people and business connections between New Zealand and the United States. ✈️ 🌏

This ANZAC Day in Arizona was particularly meaningful as community members from the local Australian and New Zealand diaspora came together for the unveiling of the ANZAC Memorial Monument at the Irish Cultural Center in Phoenix. The monument will stand as a lasting tribute to the legacy of those who served, and to the enduring values of courage, mateship and service that ANZAC Day represents.

This moving service and memorial were made possible through the dedication, persistence and generosity of local community members, who worked tirelessly to plan, organise and deliver a meaningful commemoration. Their efforts reflect a profound respect for our shared history and a collective commitment to ensuring the ANZAC spirit is honoured and remembered for generations to come.

We thank and acknowledge everyone involved for creating such a thoughtful unveiling and for strengthening the bonds of remembrance within our community.

Lest we forget.

We were honoured to stand together with Australian Consulate-General, Los Angeles over the past weekend to commemorate the enduring spirit of service and sacrifice that binds our two nations.

More than 700 New Zealanders, Australians, and friends from around the world gathered with us in San Diego and Los Angeles for two deeply moving ANZAC commemorative services.

Around 500 people came together in remembrance aboard the USS Midway in San Diego on Saturday morning, a unique and poignant setting that underscored the scale and significance of ANZAC Day.

On Sunday, we came together again in Los Angeles, with around 200 people gathering in quiet reflection at the Los Angeles National Cemetery to honour those who have served, past and present.

ANZAC Day reminds us that the First World War helped shape Australia and New Zealand as nations - and that remembrance, partnership, and shared values continue to define us today.

Lest we forget.
