We're starting to kick into high gear for GOTV.

Tomorrow morning, join SMDC for our own canvass in support of Brian Goldsmith, our endorsed candidate for State Senate, as well as several of our other candidates for local office.
Canvass shifts at 10am or 12pm with the rally in between.

And on Sunday, join Robbie and Alicia, two of our endorsed candidates for School Board, for their own canvass.

Santa Monica voters have their ballots. Let's hit the doors this weekend and get the word out about our candidates!

This Saturday, help elect our next State Senator!

Last month, we hit the doors for Santa Monica native Ben Allen as he launched his campaign for Insurance Commissioner. Now, it’s time to help elect our Club-endorsed candidate to succeed Ben in the State Senate: Brian Goldsmith!

Join fellow Santa Monica Democrats this Saturday, October 10, for a canvass with Brian and other SMDC-endorsed candidates. We’ll rally and head out into the neighborhood to talk with voters about the future of our community and California.

Plan for two hours of door-to-door canvassing. We’ll also gather with Brian and other endorsed candidates for a rally between shifts.

Tomorrow morning is our big Ben Allen event of the campaign cycle, and we want to see you there!

Santa Monica has watched Ben Allen grow from a SMMUSD student, to a member and president of the Santa Monica-Malibu School Board, to a member of the Santa Monica Democratic Club Executive Board, and, for the past twelve years, to our State Senator.

Now Ben is running to become California’s next Insurance Commissioner. If elected, he would become the first Santa Monican ever elected to statewide office. That would be a huge point of pride for our city and for our Club.

And to make that happen, Ben needs to run up the vote right here at home, with the Santa Monicans who have known him, watched him serve our community, and know what he can do.

That’s where we come in...

Whatever other candidates you're supporting this fall, let's come together as Santa Monicans and get out the vote for our very own Ben Allen. Join Ben and fellow SMDC members at Reed Park, hear from Ben and other Club-endorsed candidates, and then hit the doors to talk with Santa Monica Democrats.

Our endorsement voting is complete, and our mailer is headed to the printer. Now it’s time to roll up our sleeves and get to work.

Between our local endorsements and crucial swing House districts around the country, we have an opportunity to make serious progressive change right here from Santa Monica and the Westside Democratic HQ. Stay tuned to our emails for the latest opportunities to get involved.

Tomorrow, the Santa Monica Democratic Club is co-hosting a postcarding event at the HQ! We’ll be writing in support of Senate candidates in competitive races, including James Talarico, Roy Cooper, Jon Ossoff, Mary Peltola, Troy Jackson, Abdul El-Sayed, Josh Turek, and more.

Research has found that effective postcarding campaigns can produce a modest boost in voter turnout. In races that could be decided by a small number of votes, every bit of outreach matters. Join your Santa Monica friends, meet new ones, and spend the day reaching out to Democrats in competitive districts across the country.

Last night, things got interesting. 🔥
The Santa Monica Democratic Club held our latest endorsement meeting, and for the first time this campaign season, SD24 votes got to see some real fireworks.

We put John Erickson and Brian Goldsmith, the two remaining candidates for California State Senate in SD24, head-to-head for one final debate before the Club voted on its endorsement. The questions went deep on housing, homelessness, public safety, film and television, the environment, immigration, campaign spending, and more.

There were sharp disagreements and pointed exchanges, giving Club members their clearest opportunity yet to distinguish between the two candidates before casting their ballots.

Whether you already know who you're voting for or you're still making up your mind, this one is worth watching. 🍿

Then, after the debate, we heard from proponents and opponents of each of five Santa Monica ballot measures - ES, GG, RR, TT, and VV - and the Club voted on each one.

Our work endorsing candidates and ballot measures for the November election isn’t quite finished, and there’s still some important business ahead.

Join us Wednesday, August 26, for our next Santa Monica Democratic Club meeting, where we’ll take up two major pieces of the fall ballot:

🗣️ State Senate Endorsement Debate
We’ll hear from Brian Goldsmith and John Erickson, the two Democrats seeking the Club’s endorsement for State Senate (SD24), before members vote on the race later in the evening.

🗳️ Santa Monica Ballot Measures
Members will also consider all five local Santa Monica ballot measures and vote on the Club’s endorsements.

The meeting will be held in person at the Church in Ocean Park and live on Zoom.
