🧰Major tank restoration project starting this month
Work will soon be underway on the Ralphine No. 1 Tank Recoating Project in Santa Rosa at Spring Lake Regional Park, a major investment in the long-term reliability of our water system.

Our 6-million-gallon tank at Lake Ralphine is getting a comprehensive overhaul, including:
🔴Interior & exterior tank recoat
🟠Repair of corroded structural beams, new lateral bracing & cathodic protection systems
Seismic upgrades including new catwalks & inlet/outlet piping
🔵New security fencing & French drain installation
🟢The project contract was awarded in April 2026, and we're coordinating site access with Sonoma County Regional Parks.
🟡Construction is anticipated to kick off late June/early July 2026 and preconstruction submittals are in process now.
💧Projects like this keep our infrastructure strong, our water safe, and our community resilient. We'll keep you posted as work progresses!

California has more than 180,000 miles of different types of rivers and streams which create diverse habitats for numerous aquatic species. California’s almost $4 trillion economy, including its $60 billion agricultural industry, relies heavily on rivers for water supply.

Sonoma Water is proud to be a partner in the Santa Rosa Metro Chamber of Commerce’s Mike Hauser Academy, designed to empower our future workforce to become leaders in STEM fields. Over two days with Sonoma Water educators, students were asked to explore the question, “Is the Russian River a healthy habitat for salmon?” They explored facilities, made field observations, conducted water quality sampling and invertebrate collection to be later identified and explored under microscopes.

Incoming 9th graders spend three weeks of their summer break participating in this program - visiting different businesses and organizations exploring careers in our region. Sonoma Water staff introduce these students to the many career fields within the public water and wastewater sector.

Notice: Kohler and Sonoma Creek Crossing Project to begin June 22.

Work on this system protection project will start Monday, June 22 and continue through the end of November. All work within the creek will be completed by October 15.

The work consists of bank stabilization and utility protection at two creek crossings, Kohler Creek and Sonoma Creek, where bank erosion and channel incision are threatening the existing 16-inch sanitary sewer trunk main cement pipe and associated siphon infrastructure.

NOTICE OF TRAIL CLOSURE
The North side of the Santa Rosa Creek Trail, between Stony Point Rd and Fulton Rd, will be closed for maintenance between approximately 6:00 am and 4:30 pm, Monday June 15th through Wednsday June 17th.

The trail will remain open for normal use outside of this time period. During periods of trail closure, the gravel surface trail on the south side of Santa Rosa Creek will remain open.
