A new academy means a new group getting ready to become part of the Medic family! 🚑

This week, they’re spending time in the classroom, practicing hands-on skills, and getting a closer look at what it takes to work in EMS.

We’re excited to see them grow here at Medic/SCFD-EMS and take their first steps toward a career serving our community.

We had a great time joining the Sonoma County Fire District Open House over the weekend!

The event gave local families a chance to meet first responders, learn more about the services available in their community, and get a closer look at the people and resources behind local public safety.

Our SCFDEMS team was glad to be part of the day, offering Hands-Only CPR demonstrations and talking with attendees about the role EMS plays in Sonoma County.

We were also happy to welcome City of Cotati Mayor Sylvia Lemus, who stopped by to learn more about Hands-Only CPR and visit with our team. Thank you to everyone who came out and made it a great community event!

Sometimes a school visit is about more than showing students what’s inside an ambulance. 🚑

SCFD-EMS recently spent time with 50 students at San Miguel Elementary School, giving them a closer look at EMS and the people behind the work.

There were plenty of questions, lots of curiosity, and maybe even a few future EMTs or paramedics in the group.

Getting to introduce students to careers in EMS at a young age is always a fun reminder that the next generation of first responders could be sitting in a classroom right here in Sonoma County.

Thank you to San Miguel Elementary for having us!

SCFD-EMS/Medic Ambulance and Sonoma County Fire District continue to work with local organizations to place AEDs in the community and provide Hands-Only CPR training to the people who may need to use them.

These trainings give staff and community members the chance to practice what to do during a cardiac emergency and feel more prepared to step in when every second matters.

We’re grateful for the community partners helping us make CPR training and AED access more available throughout Sonoma County.

If your organization is interested in an AED or Hands-Only CPR training, reach out to to learn more about our community programs.

A great day of learning and connection at the Graton Day Labor Center! ❤️

Our team at SCFD-EMS/Medic Ambulance and Sonoma County Fire District spent time with community members teaching Hands-Only CPR and how to use an AED, giving participants the chance to practice skills that can make a difference during a cardiac emergency.

We were also proud to donate an AED to the center, helping make this lifesaving resource more accessible to the people who work, gather, and connect here.

Thank you to the Graton Day Labor Center (Centro Laboral de Graton) for welcoming us and helping us bring this training directly into the community.

Please join us in officially welcoming Justin Bowen as our new Clinical Quality Manager! 👏🚑

Justin recently received his Manager’s Eagles, continuing our tradition of recognizing career milestones and leadership within our team.

A Santa Rosa native, Justin brings more than 32 years of EMS experience, all spent serving communities across Sonoma County. He began his EMS career in 1994 and joined Medic Ambulance/SCFD EMS in January 2024.

Throughout his career, Justin has served in several leadership, training, and clinical roles, including Field Training Officer, Paramedic Preceptor, Relief Supervisor, QRV Paramedic, and EVOC Instructor.

As Clinical Quality Manager, Justin will work closely with our field crews and leadership team to support clinical growth, continued learning, and high-quality patient care across SCFD EMS.

Congratulations, Justin! We’re excited to see you take on this new role and continue serving Sonoma County.

Today, we remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and the families and loved ones who carry their memory forward.

We also honor the EMS professionals and first responders who answered the call that day, including those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to others.

We will never forget.

Our Community Engagement Team recently visited the Center for Well-Being to teach Hands-Only CPR and Stop the Bleed skills to Community Health Workers.

These skills add another layer to the important work CHWs are already doing every day to support and educate people throughout our communities. It was also a great opportunity to connect, share knowledge, and continue building relationships with local organizations working toward the same goal of keeping our communities healthy and safe.

Thank you to the Center for Well-Being for having us!

National Night Out brought Sonoma County together for an evening centered on community, connection and public safety.

SCFD-EMS/Medic Ambulance was proud to take part alongside local law enforcement, first responders and community organizations. These type of events give us the chance to meet the people we serve outside of an emergency and have conversations that help build trust long before a 911 call is ever made.

For our team, being present in the community means more than responding when help is needed. It means showing up, listening and helping our neighbors feel more connected to the people who serve them.

Thank you to the Santa Rosa Police Department and everyone who helped make National Night Out a meaningful evening for our community.
