Today, North Bay Black Chamber of Commerce members, Drs Andrea Hall and Raquell Holmes and Poet Laureate, Enid Pickett were interviewed on the Women's Spaces radio show by host Elaine Holtz and co-host Kenneth E. Norton, who are also NBBCC Members. They enjoyed a meaningful conversation about the history of Juneteenth, why its legacy remains so important today, and the many upcoming events that will celebrate this powerful milestone in American history.

Thank you to Women's Spaces for providing a platform to educate, inspire, and keep the spirit of freedom, resilience, and community alive. It was a privilege to be part of the discussion.

โœŠ๐Ÿฟโค๏ธ๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ’š The Sonoma County Board of Supervisors has proclaimed June 19 as Juneteenth Day in Sonoma County, recognizing the significance of this day of remembrance, reflection and celebration. Juneteenth commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African Americans and honors the strength, resilience and enduring contributions of Black communities.

The Board also celebrates the Martin Luther King/Juneteenth Festival, a longstanding community tradition that brings people together through education, culture, music, art, food and fellowship while advancing Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.โ€™s vision of justice and equality.

The 56th Annual Sonoma County MLK/Juneteenth Festival will take place on Saturday, June 13 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Martin Luther King Jr. Park (Hendley Street), in Santa Rosa โ€” a free, familyโ€‘friendly celebration of diversity, inclusion and freedom. Learn more: https://www.sonomacountyjuneteenth.com/

As we celebrate freedom and progress, we also recommit ourselves to the ongoing work of justice, equity, inclusion and belonging for all.
