Many of you have seen my posts seeking daycare for my little . I have made close to three dozen calls, inquiries, and tours with sites all over the County. The short answer is: there is no care for infants, and the places that offer it have waiting lists a mile long.

We were very proud to be part of the kickoff and signature gathering for Our Kids Our Future, which would provide desperately-needed funding for childcare here in Sonoma County. You'll see us on slide 9 ;-)

Our Kids Our Future, a Santa Rosa-based campaign effort that formed in July 2021, is leading a push to put a quarter-cent countywide sales tax on the ballot in November.

There has been horrible news lately here in Sonoma County involving current and former elected officials violating the public's trust and the sanctity of others' lives in the form of sexual violence. We are rightly having a heated and frenzied discourse and I am so glad to see so many other public officials taking very public, firm stands against violence, against abuses of power, and against silencing victims. Though I am no longer in a leadership position, I feel it incumbent to make my position clear (though I'm sure no one will be surprised):

As a survivor, as a woman, as a mother, I can tell you and . I can also tell you these reports and the actions taken in the fallout have caused me significant re-trauma; I'm sure I'm not alone. So, I wanted to share the following information from Verity, our local r**e and sexual violence crisis counseling center:

"Our hearts go out to all survivors, and would like you to know that you are not alone.
Please contact Verity in Santa Rosa if you have been triggered. They are able to set up Zoom debrief sessions for anyone in the community who would like to speak to them.
Please know that your community is here for you!!✨

I am not the first person to point this out. And, I certainly hope I am not the last.

Congress is (thankfully) taking unprecedented action to remove, impeach, and otherwise neutralize the President following his role in inciting a violent coup at our Nation's capitol. Reports abound about MC's harrowing experiences while sheltering in secure locations, waiting while shots from fi****ms were overheard and armed vigilantes roamed recklessly and freely. We are, as a Nation, rightly horrified, outraged, and acting in response to this threat to the seat of our democracy.

Let us not forget, however, that the protocols followed by the Members of Congress- dropping to the ground, hiding in place, turning the lights off- are the same responses my first grader has been taught, and practiced, to deal with an active shooter each year he has been in school. I pray we can find the same horror, outrage, and action for our children that we have found for our adult, elected officials.

Check out Baby Adie casting his first vote, 2014! Serving the people of City of Santa Rosa, California remains one of the highest honors of my life. The voters place their faith in integrity, sober decision-making, and community mindedness. Knowing this and acting accordingly are the benchmarks of a true elected leader. You know these aren't found in our current White House occupants, and so my vote on that issue isn't surprising. However, here are my suggestions for Sonoma County local races (some of whom I am blessed to call friends):

Like most things in 2020, Adie’s birthday celebrations were a bit different this year. But our friends, family, and chosen family showed up once again to make my little man feel special. Huge thank you to Santa Rosa’s bravest for your service at all times, and to everyone who took time to make him feel loved.
