Personnel in our Emergency Command Center have been monitoring lightning activity moving across Colusa and Yolo counties Wednesday morning, with lightning strikes being detected on Cortina Ridge, near East Park Reservoir and along the I-5 corridor.

Additional lightning is expected through Thursday, but the forecast is showing thunderstorms will become increasing wetter with time.

As the largest of CAL FIRE’s 21 Units, plays a critical role in statewide wildfire response by providing resources and coverage wherever they’re needed.

Our crews are currently supporting operations across California:

🔥 Southern California: One engine strike team and one crew strike team are pre-positioned in the southern region due to the critical fire weather down there.

🔥 Surgone Fire, Humboldt County: One engine strike team has been assisting CAL FIRE Humboldt-Del Norte Unit, and they are being released from that incident Sunday.

🔥 Cooley Fire, Mendocino County: Seven engines, three dozers, two crews and two helicopters from LNU are supporting wildfire suppression efforts.

From local response to statewide support, LNU firefighters stand ready to answer the call.

The Napa County Fire Chipping Program will be closing for the remainder of the year starting November 1st. The last day to submit a request is October 31st. If you submit a request by the 31st we will make sure your pile is chipped by November 15. To sign up for chipping visit:

🚨 RED FLAG WARNING: THURSDAY NIGHT INTO FRIDAY MORNING 🚨

🔥 Critical fire weather conditions are expected across the North Bay Interior Mountains from 10 PM Thursday, October 15, through 11 AM Friday, October 16.
⚠️ What to expect:
�🌬️ Northerly winds of 20–30 mph, with gusts up to 40 mph
�💨 Gusts up to 60 mph on the highest peaks
�🌵 Critically dry vegetation and low humidity of 15–20%

🔥 Fire danger will be elevated, and fires could start and spread rapidly.

✅ Help prevent wildfires:
�• Avoid activities that could create sparks.
• Never leave campfires unattended, and ensure they are completely extinguished.
• Keep emergency supplies ready.
• Monitor local alerts and follow evacuation instructions from officials.

The forward progress has been stopped. After more accurate mapping the fire is approximately 5.4 acres and 50% contained.

Air resources have been released and ground resources continue making good progress strengthening containment lines and putting out hotspots.

The fire is approximately 10 acres, and 5% contained. Air and ground resources are making good progress and continue working on increasing containment on this incident.

- NEW INCIDENT -

Firefighters are at scene of a vegetation fire near the 20400 block of Morgan Valley Road, Lower Lake.

The fire is reported as a slow to moderate rate of spread and approximately 10 acres at this time. Additional air and ground resources have been ordered.

⚠️ PUBLIC SAFETY POWER SHUTOFF (PSPS) PREPAREDNESS

PG&E has notified several residents and businesses within the CAL FIRE Sonoma-Lake-Napa Unit of a potential PSPS beginning Thursday morning and continuing over the next several days.

🔋 Prepare for a possible extended outage:
• Charge phones and backup batteries.
• Stock up on water, nonperishable food, medications, and flashlights.
• Plan for medical devices that require electricity.
• Monitor PG&E notifications and local emergency alerts.
• Check on neighbors who may need assistance.
• Operate generators outdoors, away from windows and doors.
