Looking for ways to lower operating costs and use energy more efficiently?
Join us at Smart Savings for Local Businesses & Nonprofits in Windsor! We’ll be there alongside local partners sharing resources on energy efficiency, utilities, water, waste services, and workforce incentives to help your organization save.

We’re celebrating a very special milestone for someone who has been part of SCP’s story from the beginning! ✨

As our first Customer Service Representative, Sylvia spent years helping customers in both English and Spanish. Today, she continues making a difference as a Customer Service Associate, providing hands-on support to the people we serve.

Beyond her dedication to our customers, Sylvia is known for her kindness, humor, and contagious laughter. She’s a wonderful teammate, a familiar face to so many, and someone we’re incredibly lucky to work alongside.

More opportunities to learn, create, and explore. That’s what we celebrated with SchoolsRule Sonoma County and SchoolsRule Mendocino County (Mendocino County Office of Education) at their recent Impact Celebrations.

Sonoma Clean Power supports both initiatives to help students access field trips, arts programs, hands-on STEM learning, and more. By distributing funding countywide, SchoolsRule supports every public school and helps bring more learning opportunities to students across our region.

That commitment to local students extends beyond the office. SCP staff volunteer with organizations across our communities to support education and learning opportunities, including our Building Operations and IT Manager, Beau Anderson, who serves as president of the Sun Ridge Education Foundation.

We’re proud to join the educators, volunteers, and community partners helping open doors for young people across Sonoma and Mendocino counties.

One home can make a difference. Thousands can make 5.7 MW. ⚡

In August, SCP Rewards participants reduced electricity use at home during an energy savings event, collectively delivering an estimated 5.7 MW of demand reduction—a new program record. That’s roughly the average electricity demand of 8,000 California homes.

How does it work? Enrolled smart thermostats automatically adjust temperatures to reduce energy use during events. Participants can also respond to alerts by waiting to run the dishwasher or laundry until an event ends. Together, these small actions help reduce demand when electricity use is high and support a more reliable grid.

With 15,000 customers already participating, every home makes a difference. Be part of the next record.

We love our interns, and we’re especially proud to spotlight Ashlyn, a returning intern from right here in Sonoma County. 💜

Passionate about environmental justice, Ashlyn researched how energy programs can affect people beyond energy savings—from health and comfort to the financial barriers that can keep people from participating.

A $20 million win for California’s clean energy future!⚡

Our Policy & Advocacy Team led a statewide coalition of environmental groups, labor unions, utilities, and other partners to secure $20 million in state funding for geothermal exploration, a pivotal step toward developing more reliable, renewable energy here in California.

Resources like geothermal can provide renewable energy all night and throughout the winter, making them a key solution to reaching 100% carbon-free electricity affordably.

This funding is an important milestone for geothermal development across California, including our local GeoZone initiative, with the potential to support clean energy around the clock, local jobs, and greater investment in our communities in Sonoma and Mendocino counties.

Thank you to our state leaders and the many partners who helped make this possible!

The California Legislature just passed the Home Energy Choice Act, which will give Californians the freedom and funds to upgrade to non-polluting appliances like heat pumps and induction stoves!

Instead of receiving a letter from your utility notifying you of their plans to dig up your yard to replace your old gas service line, utilities will now be required to give you a choice: replace your aging service line or receive thousands of dollars for modern appliances to get your home off gas entirely. It’s a game changer.

The bill is now before Governor Newsom for his signature.
