Madrone’s biggest fundraiser of the year is coming!
Get ready for the Run the Rainbow Walkathon on October 2nd! 🎉
The Walkathon is an afternoon of fun for the whole family. Students will start walking and running laps at 1:15 PM, while enjoying the photo booth, games, and other fun activities until school release.
For students with adult supervision, the fun continues after school until 4:00 PM!

🌈 NEW THIS YEAR: COLOR! 🌈
We’re adding a little extra fun to the Walkathon! As students walk and run their laps, colored powder will be thrown, turning the afternoon into a colorful rainbow of happiness!

What to Know
All students will receive 5 tickets to use for fun activities like the photo booth and face painting. Additional tickets will be available for purchase at the event.
🍧 Every student receives ONE FREE Kona Ice!
After-School Supervision: Once school is released, students must have an adult with them to continue participating in the event.
🏃‍♀️ Lap Cards: Students’ laps will be recorded on their Lap Cards. Please make sure Lap Cards are turned in at the end of the event.

Permission Slips:
Information packets were sent home with students last week—check those backpacks! 😉
For your student to participate, the permission slip included in the packet must be returned to their teacher THIS WEEK.

¡Prepárense para la caminata "Run the Rainbow" el 2 de octubre! 🎉
Esta caminata es una tarde de diversión para toda la familia. Los estudiantes comenzarán a caminar y correr vueltas a la 1:15 p. m., mientras disfrutan de la cabina de fotos, juegos y otras actividades divertidas hasta la hora de salida de clases.
Para los estudiantes que cuenten con supervisión de un adulto, ¡la diversión continúa después de clases hasta las 4:00 p. m.!

🌈 NOVEDAD DE ESTE AÑO: ¡COLOR! 🌈
¡Le añadiremos un toque extra de diversión a la caminata! Mientras los estudiantes caminan y corren sus vueltas, se lanzarán polvos de colores, ¡convirtiendo la tarde en un colorido arcoíris de felicidad!

Información importante
Todos los estudiantes recibirán 5 boletos para usar en actividades divertidas, como la cabina de fotos y la pintura de caras. Se podrán comprar boletos adicionales durante el evento.
🍧 ¡Cada estudiante recibe UN Kona Ice gratis!
Supervisión después de clases: Una vez que termine la jornada escolar, los estudiantes deben estar acompañados por un adulto para seguir participando en el evento.
🏃‍♀️ Tarjetas de vueltas: Las vueltas de los estudiantes se registrarán en sus tarjetas de vueltas. Por favor, asegúrense de entregar las tarjetas al finalizar el evento.

The first days of school are officially in the books—and they’ve already been FULL of fun!
Here’s a little peek at what our Madrone Mustangs have been up to!
Friday’s Back-to-School Picnic was a blast! The kids had an afternoon full of foam fun, laughter, and lots of smiles.
Then came a surprise visit from the Color Bandit!
The Color Bandit—aka Jennell, this year’s Walkathon PTA Chair—stopped by school to announce this year’s Walkathon theme:
🌈 RUN THE RAINBOW! 🌈
And the kids got to put the theme to the test! They threw colorful powder at the Color Bandit to get a sneak peek at just how much fun this year’s laps are going to be when everyone gets covered in COLOR!
We’re already getting excited for Run the Rainbow on October 2nd!

¡Los primeros días de clases ya han quedado atrás, y han estado llenos de diversión!
¡Aquí tienen un pequeño adelanto de lo que han estado haciendo nuestros "Madrone Mustangs"!
¡El picnic de regreso a clases del viernes fue todo un éxito! Los niños disfrutaron de una tarde llena de diversión con espuma, risas y muchas sonrisas.
¡Luego llegó una visita sorpresa del "Bandido del Color" (Color Bandit)!
El Bandido del Color —es decir, Jennell, la presidenta del comité de la caminata benéfica (Walkathon) de la asociación de padres y maestros (PTA) de este año— pasó por la escuela para anunciar el tema de la caminata:
🌈 ¡CORRE EL ARCOÍRIS! (RUN THE RAINBOW!) 🌈
¡Y los niños pudieron poner a prueba el tema! Lanzaron polvos de colores al Bandido del Color para tener un adelanto de lo divertidas que serán las vueltas de este año, ¡cuando todos terminen cubiertos de COLOR!
¡Ya estamos muy entusiasmados por el evento "Run the Rainbow" del 2 de octubre!
¡Estén atentos para más diversión relacionada con la caminata, detalles sobre la recaudación de fondos y formas en las que pueden ayudar a que el evento de este año sea el mejor de todos!

In celebration of the start of new school year, join other Madrone families Friday, August 21st from 5-7 pm at Madrone's lunch tables. Bring your own dinner. Kona Ice will be available for purchase. The Madrone community is excited to meet our new families.

First day of school comes with a lot of emotions for us all. You deserve a little something after that school drop-off!
Once the kids are safely off to school, come join us for coffee, pastries, and a chance to ease into your morning without kiddos.

See you tomorrow, in the square between gym/cafeteria and office. School starts at 8:10. Friendly reminder to leave early because parking will be a challenge.

El primer día de clases trae consigo muchas emociones para todos. ¡Te mereces un pequeño detalle después de dejar a los niños en la escuela!
Una vez que los niños hayan llegado bien a la escuela, acompáñanos a tomar un café y comer algo rico; será una buena oportunidad para comenzar la mañana con calma y sin los pequeños.

1st-6th grade: School is out 2:10

¿Te enteraste? Madrone ya no tendrá días escolares de horario reducido. La hora de salida es la misma todos los días. Eso significa que no habrá salidas tempranas los miércoles, como en años anteriores. ¡Qué bien!

WANTED: DJ (No experience required)
Have you always dreamed of standing behind the DJ booth, dropping beats, and watching a crowd go wild? Well... this is your moment.
Our Run the Rainbow Walkathon is looking for a Volunteer DJ to keep the energy high with fun, family-friendly music while our students walk, dance, and have an amazing time!
No professional experience needed. No equipment necessary.
A great playlist ( which we can provide) and a love of fun are all it takes.
Bonus points if you've ever secretly pretended your kitchen was a nightclub.
Help us turn our Walkathon into the hottest event of the year.
