Dear Wonderful Olivet Families,
Welcome back (or, just WELCOME, if you are new to us!)! We hope this note finds you all healthy and having enjoyed joy and relaxation over the summer.
We have been busy this summer, sprucing up the school! We've got new paint, a new blacktop, landscaping, and later in the Fall, a new eating area! So very exciting!
We look forward to seeing you on the first day of school - August 11th. For grades 1st-6th, it is a regular schedule:
8:05-8:20 Drop-off (please do not drop your child off early as there is no supervision):
Use the first lane in front of the school for drop-off. Please pull all the way forward to drop off your child. Adults are required to stay in their car during drop-off/do not leave your car in the lane to come on campus - please park if you must get out of your car or want to hug/kiss/ or walk your child to class.
2:39 Pick-up
Please follow the direction of staff during this very busy time! We use both lanes closest to the school for pick-up, the farthest lane is the through lane.
PLEASE CLICK HERE FOR THE BELL SCHEDULE
TK/K Parents, we will be sending you a separate communication regarding the start of school times. Please note TK/K release time is 11:30 the first day, and 1:25 M, T, Th, F (W, 1:00 - early release).
At this time, our OLIVET community does not have before-school supervision before 8:05 AM. For safety reasons please do NOT drop off your children at school before 8:05 AM. Please see your options below if you require onsite supervision for your child prior to 8:05 AM. If you have any other concerns, please send the principal a message via ParentSquare.
Welcome Back! A few reminders from the Office Manager to start the year:
If you would like to wear a mask and are in need of one, we have them available in the office.
Volunteers on campus, please come by the office to sign-in and get a visitors pass. Once you are finished volunteering, we request that you return to the office to sign out. In an emergency, we want to ensure that our volunteers are accounted for. Thank you for volunteering!
If you are picking your child up early, please give us a call ahead of time, and we will call them up to the office to meet you when you arrive.
All tardy students must check into the office first. We will issue them a slip to give to their classroom teacher. Tardy means arriving at school after the bell has rung at 8:20 AM.
Independent Contracts- If your family is going on vacation for five days or more, please check in with the office at least a week before you are scheduled to leave so the office can submit an Independent Contract to your child's teacher.
Friendly reminder- 3 or more unexcused absences will be recorded as a truancy.
For your convenience, we have added a locked drop box at the front of the school for you to drop off any hard copy documents that you have for the front office, the school nurse, or your child's teacher.
Don't hesitate to get in touch with me, Azura Leon, [email protected]
Thank you for keeping the office informed! Azura Leon, 707.522.3045
DROP-OFF/PICK-UP PROCEDURES: For all first through sixth graders, traffic flows in the same, single direction and all students are picked up in the same place you dropped them off in the morning, on the west side of campus. For afternoon kindergarten pickup, please either park in a designated parking space and walk to the kindergarten release area, or wait in your car in the lane nearest the school, for the students to be brought out.
In order to maintain traffic safety, all drivers need to follow the established student drop-off/pick-up procedures:
Do not drop off or pick up students before getting to the crosswalk in front of school.
Please enter the north driveway, driving to the designated student drop off area.
Please pull as far forward as possible so that all drivers are able to drop off their children in the loading zone.
Please instruct students to exit on the curb side of the car whenever possible. If the student must exit on the driveway side, please remind them to look for cars before exiting the vehicle.
Olivet students wait with their siblings if they have one. Adults will direct students to your car, regardless of where you pull up.
After dropping students off or picking students up, please exit the school through the south driveway while watching for pedestrians.
Do not stop or park in a “Red Zone” or other areas that are not designated parking places.
If you plan to walk your child to class, speak with your child’s teacher, or visit the office, please park in a designated visitor parking space.
Please do not park and let your child cross at random points in the parking lot or in front of the school. Students AND adults must use crosswalks.
To ensure the safety of students, all students must walk with an adult if they are crossing or walking in a driveway or parking area.
COVID Protocols are still in place as we begin the year. Please refer to communication from our Superintendent, Dr. Steve Charbonneau, for updates.
Parent Square is our means of school communication. An account is automatically generates an account for each parent using the information in Aeries. Be sure to contact the office if you information changes. We encourage you to access your account and download the mobile app to manage your preferences.

Reporting an Absence:
If you want to report an absence, please call our office at 707.522.3045. Remember to state the reason why your child will be absent.
We LOVE to celebrate and acknowledge children's birthdays! While each teacher has a special way to do this, as a school, this year, we will be moving away from food oriented celebrations. Our Health Policy limits what types of food we can bring to school, moving away from edible treats for birthdays and replacing them with Food Free celebrations is another way we can impact the physical health of our students. To to give you some sample ideas, here is a link to FOOD-FREE Celebration ideas. We thank you in advance for your contribution to the health of our students.
Safety: With 1 in 13 children having at least one food allergy, anyone serving food to children needs to be aware of food allergies and the potential for a life-threatening allergic reaction. More than 15% of school-aged children with food allergies have had an allergic reaction at school. These reactions range from mild to severe and even fatal. The safety of all students is one of Jack London's top priorities.
We also will be holding any deliveries, such as flowers, balloons, etc., in the front office until dismissal. After careful consideration and gathering feedback from various parties, we have determined this to be necessary for the safety of all our students.
That's ALL - that's A LOT! We look forward to seeing you soon. For now, enjoy the rest of your summer!
Warmly,
Dr. Anna
