American Charities Foundation

American Charities Foundation We provide 100% volunteer services for foster and at-risk children. Operating method is simple: con In the U.S. It’s a huge number.

there are 518,000 abused, neglected, and or abandoned children in foster care. 518,000, it’s just another number, another statistic, right? That’s until we pause and hear the cries of the children. But not an insurmountable number if everyone reading this would consider what he or she could do to help. We can’t change their past, but as a foundation, a community, and a nation we can make a differ

ence in their futures. Foster children are normal children who have encountered a challenging life event beyond their control that has landed them "in the system". They are no different than your child or mine yet often they become labeled as troubled, impaired, or otherwise defective. Most have been removed from their home because of
physical or sexual abuse, neglect, abandonment, or because their parents may have died, have a mental or physical illness, and or a substance abuse problem. Imagine the psychological and physical damage caused by the abuse, neglect and or abandonment by the people who should have provided love and safety, but instead gave only pain and fear. Each child on average will experience 3-5 placements prior to adoption or reunification. The few possessions these children might gather along the way are often lugged around in trash bags, leading to the demeaning label, “trash-bag kids”. Most can't imagine the emotional impact the average child in foster care has to face. Over half of the children in the foster system spend at least one year away from their home. What happens during that one year plays a huge role in their future and their development. As they lay their head down that night they can't help but wonder…will I be going home tomorrow or maybe the next day? Unfortunately, it's all too frequent that day’s turn into weeks, months, and more often than not….years. This story is playing out every single day in our city and around the nation. Our operating method is simple: contributions go directly to our programs and activities, making the maximum impact for the children. We are extremely proud to be able to provide such exceptional educational opportunities primarily through in-kind support and donations, the generosity of our community, and through partnerships with other non-profit organizations. We seek to harness the power of education, creativity, and imagination to improve the lives of foster children allowing them to create the future they imagine. If you have any questions or need further information, please feel free to contact us or visit our website: www.acfchildren.org

Our third annual Holiday Toy Drive was a HUGE SUCCESS thanks to the immense generosity of our community. 2,224 gifts were given to foster, kincare, and at-risk youth.

Distribution was through the Department of Social Services County of Santa Barbara, Family Care Network Inc., KINCARES, Inc., Childhelp, Changing Faces and Agape Homes, Foster and Kinship families.

We are very grateful to our community for supporting our efforts. It’s because of your kindness children who otherwise would not have received gifts were remembered.

A special thank you to the youth in our community….
Girl Scout Troop # 55541, Lucky Clover 4-H, and ACF Toy Consultants.

Thank you ALL for your very generous support. We look forward to working with you again next year.
