After much deliberation the Board has reluctantly decided to cancel Sunday’s event.
This was not an easy decision; we all know the importance of and anticipation for our events and hate to miss them:(.
There are forecasts of 87 to 90 degrees listed for the area, however, generally the temperature specifically at the arena is 4 to 5 degrees higher than forecasted at the Equestrian Center. There is also a published heat warning projecting temperatures to increase even higher, as well as high humidity index forecast. Those factors, if they come to pass, will increase the temperature and "feels like" temperature to well over 90 degrees which, becomes extremely uncomfortable and dangerous for some of our members and animals.
For these reasons we felt it necessary to make this call, although we understand this is not consistent with our procedure cancellation temperature of 90 degrees. Unfortunately, we have no way of knowing what the temp will actually be, it may cool off, stay the same or be hotter. We felt in this case the downside of guessing wrong and having a miserable event, cancelling mid event or possible heath issues was not worth the risk.
This is decision is understandably frustrating for all of us but made with great consideration for the good of the entire club. We appreciate your understanding of our concerns and this difficult decision.
There may be possibilities for rescheduling the event, will follow up on that
