Om El Arab Om El Arab is one of the world's foremost breeders of Arabian horses, with lines to the great *Estopa
(287)

Translated to mean "Mother of All Arabians" in Arabic, Om El Arab is widely considered one of the world's most historic and successful breeding programs of World, International and National champion Arabian horses. It began forty years ago in the Black Forest in Germany before moving to Santa Ynez, California. Its foundation mare, the pure Spanish diva *Estopa, is the cornerstone of the entire bre

eding program. Her influence and that of her son *El Shaklan, who was bred at Om El Arab, are unparalleled. Entire breeding programs have been established around the world based upon these two individuals. Om El Arab International is arguably the most successful private breeding program in the world. It would be difficult to research show results from around the world for the past ten, twenty, thirty or forty years because the data is so extensive. What it would show, however, is the unparalleled influence of the Om El Arab breeding program. Recent champions and producers of champions WH Justice, Ajman Moniscione, Versace, Escape Ibn Navarrone, Eternety Ibn Navarrone, Valentino, Aja Justify, Venetzia, Lady Veronika, Maximus, El Dorada, Al Palacio, Bess Faizah, Panarea by Palawan all carry Om El Arab blood in their veins. Available for Your Consideration: Om El Bernadene

(Dominic M x Om El Benedine)
2023 Filly

This filly is a dream and aptly reflects her phenomenal pedigree. By the supersire of type, Dominic M, Bernadene is a direct daughter of Om El Benedine... the only full sister to our immortal Om El Benedict (dam of Om El Bellissimo) as well as dam to the late great Atticus ENB.

Bernadene's tail female line represents some of the most potent Om El Arab female lines of our program (Om El Bernadene --> Om El Benedine --> Om El Beneera --> *Estopa). Pair that with Dominic M as a sire, her future potential is truly limitless.

"Today was such a wonderful, relaxed, fun-filled ride, full of joy and connection, thanks to Charisse Glenn and her beautiful red-headed mare, Sheeba. Niño was incredible, guiding us along with the mare through 18 miles of stunning scenery and fun challenges. Every moment was a delight!
It was great to revisit the Bulldog/Tapia loop, knowing we could enjoy it all safely. Sure, there were some low branches, a bit of rock climbing, a washed-out trail, and a creek crossing through deep water, but it all added to the adventure.
On the last mile, we spotted a charming white domestic cat on the trail. We wish we could have helped it, but it dashed off before we could. We checked with the park ranger about the cat, and he said it wasn’t theirs—but he assured us there were plenty of mice around for it to hunt and stay safe.
The weather was perfect—cool and a bit cloudy—making for an ideal ride. The horses seemed happy, munching on snacks and enjoying the lush green grass, truly a moment to cherish."

💎 The Strength of Diamonds ... Part 4 💎

Heinz and Sigi married in 1971 while both were students at University in Berlin in Rasatt. Liane’s health was deteriorating from Hodgkin’s Disease, prompting Heinz and Sigi to purchase the family dry cleaning service, and Franz and Liane to procure a second home in the country, primarily as a healthier alternative for Liane. They found a parcel in the Black Forest of Germany, about an hour and a half outside Rastatt. Franz and Liane permanently moved to the Black Forest property.

1973 was a year of highs and lows for Sigi. Liane lost her two-year battle to cancer and passed away that February, leaving the family in shambles and Sigi wracked with sorrow. Liane was only thirty-nine; Sigi only twenty-two.

“My mother had been the focal point of our family,” said Sigi. “I was grief stricken.”

In a twist of fate, *Estopa delivered her first foal shortly thereafter, a beautiful filly by Shaker El Masri named *Estasha. The filly provided a ray of hope for things to come in the midst of Sigi’s anguish. An intense bond between Sigi and *Estopa was formed during that time that would remain till the end.

(Estasha’s influence would continue on for generations, and would later become additionally valuable because it is one of only two *Estopa lines from Germany that Sigi was able to retain. In fact, this Spring a filly was born at Om El Arab that goes back seven generations directly to *Estopa through *Estasha. The filly will undoubtedly never be sold for her cherished pedigree.)

“It may have been partly from my feelings of losing my mother,” recalled Sigi, “but *Estopa, with her kind character, her fierce protective nature and strong sense of nurturing with Estasha, had found her way into my heart.”

"There were pink, yellow, red, and an orange loop at The Treasure of the Sierra Madre ride this past weekend. They were all unique and beautiful trails, some steeper than others, but all manageable with plenty of horse water in all the right spots. The grasses were tall, tender, and green in most areas, and the horses snacked along the way, drank plenty of water, and enjoyed numerous cool-downs while we scooped up whatever water we needed to keep them comfortable and refreshed. The horses worked hard, and maybe the riders too, but we were sufficiently rewarded, and those are my favorite kinds of endurance rides. The trails were well marked, so we rarely had questions, and we had a backup GPS if needed. The ridecamp was very peaceful, and I loved everything about our weekend.
Niño and I rode with Gretchen and her mare Tika on day 2. We laughed, shared personal stories, and reminisced about so much life that, on our last loop, we got lost in conversation and no longer worried about finishing—that was a given!
Thanks so much to J Parke for taking a chance on us and trusting that we'd show up. There was a good number of riders, and everyone seemed to have a great time. How could you not?!"
