This past weekend, Santee Firefighters welcomed three probationary firefighters following their completion of Heartland Fire Academy 40.

They now step onto the floor as probationary firefighters and begin the intensive year long training; continuing to learn, grow, and serve the community of Santee. While the academy is behind them, their commitment to the craft is just getting started. These gentlemen are students of the game and will carry that mindset throughout their careers.

We’re proud to have them join the Santee Fire Department and look forward to watching their development in the years ahead as they dedicate themselves to the citizens we serve.

Thank you to our Training Division for their continued support and for sending multiple on-duty crews to assist with the academy and help shape our future firefighters. We also would like to thank neighboring agencies throughout the Central Zone for dedicating their time towards our future generations throughout the entire academy.

And a big thank you to and the Heartland Training Facility staff and academy instructors for putting together another outstanding academy. We look forward to many more in the future.

On Sunday, March 29th at approximately 6:30 PM, your Santee Firefighters responded to and battled an intense brush fire in the Town Center Parkway area, down in the river bottom. The fire was rapidly pushing toward nearby commercial buildings, creating a serious threat to the surrounding area.

Thanks to the quick actions and coordinated efforts of your Santee Firefighters, the fire was contained with no injuries reported and no damage to any buildings.

We’d like to extend our appreciation to the City of Santee, along with our Central Zone partners, for sending the appropriate resources. Central Zone sent a Type 3 Brush Engine Strike Team to the incident and remained on scene until the next day, ensuring the area was safe and fully secured.

Thank you to the crews of the Santee Fire Department for their continued dedication to the craft and relentless hard work in protecting our community.

Santee Firefighters Local 4373 would like to give a huge congratulations to Firefighter Paramedic Carson Zennedjian on successfully passing his one-year probationary period.

Carson has set the standard—becoming the first EMT hired at the Santee Fire Department and paving the way as the first EMT to be hired into a Firefighter Paramedic role. Through hard work and determination, he completed our paid Paramedic Internship and is a true product of our EMT Development Program.

Your dedication, work ethic, and commitment to the citizens of Santee do not go unnoticed. We look forward to having many more follow in your footsteps.

Santee Firefighters Local 4373 were taking classes at the Annual Fresno Training Symposium last week. They took classes; Overcoming the Commercial Fire ground and the Tactical Tic HOT class.

This past weekend, members of Santee Firefighters Local 4373 teamed up with our neighboring agency from Lakeside Firefighters Local 4488 to complete Day 2 of our Search Class, hosted by the Santee Fire Department and Lakeside Fire District.

Crews from A, B, and C Shift came together on their respected shifts at Heartland Fire Training for a full day of hands-on training focused on sharpening the skills needed to locate and rescue victims during residential structure fires. Continuous training like this ensures we stay ready to serve our community when it matters most.

A big thank you to both training divisions for putting together a great day of instruction and realistic scenarios. Strong partnerships and constant training make all the difference. We look forward to day 3 to complete this search class between the two agencies.

On Sunday, March 1st, crews responded to an open space rescue involving a patient with multiple traumatic injuries. Thanks to the quick and coordinated efforts of Santee Fire Department units, neighboring agencies, and including Copter 12, the patient was successfully transported by Santee M5 to nearby hospital to receive advanced care.

With the City of Santee’s extensive trail system used daily by our community, preparedness is everything. Our REMS unit out of Station 5 plays a critical role in navigating difficult access points and performing complex extrications in the urban interface.

Members of Local 4373 were proud to support Heart Fire Training Academy 40 during Fire Control 3 this past week.

With three Santee Fire Department recruits currently going through the academy, it means that much more to have on-duty crews stepping up to train and invest time in the next generation.

Thank you to the City of Santee Fire Department and the Training Division for their commitment in providing resources and on duty crews throughout the entirety of the academy.

Santee Firefighters have completed Class A Inspections across all shifts. The members of Local 4373 are proud of the professionalism, attention to detail, and pride shown on every shift. With the upcoming shift bid and new assignments ahead, our members are excited to get to work and continue setting the standard.

The long-standing tradition of completing Class A Inspections before the end of the shift bid lives on—because pride in our stations, our equipment, and our job never goes out of style.
