McIntosh County has spent over $500,000 defending its 2023 rezoning of Hogg Hummock, a Gullah Geechee community on Sapelo Island, which is the subject of a referendum to repeal the ordinance that allowed larger houses to be built in the area.

Back in 2012 Hogg Hummock, Sapelo Island, GA was in a significant fight over astronomically high assessed property values. Gubernatorial Candidate Mike Thurmond, came to the aid of our community to not only lead the fight alongside the community, but also would find Jeffrey A George of KLM Property Tax Solutions to lead that fight alongside our community also.
For a significant period of time it was just Michael Thurmond with his briefcase and laptop to hold off the opposing forces that were trying to displace us from our community until he connected the community with Jeff George of KLM.
I'm forever grateful for the work he has always done to protect our community. 💪🏾🔥

Residents of Sapelo Island, many of whom are descendants of slaves, objected after their taxes rose by as much as 1,000 percent.
