Career and Technical Education (CTE) is learning that works. In just the first month of school, students enrolled in CTE programs such as Aviation Technology, Hospitality and Tourism, and Welding at Saraland High School are already developing workforce-ready skills while earning dual enrollment credit, allowing them to receive both high school and college credit. Through career-connected learning experiences, students gain valuable knowledge and explore career pathways to help them make informed decisions about their futures. These hands-on learning opportunities provide students a competitive advantage as they prepare for college, careers, and lifelong success.

Every day could use a little more cheer 📣

And SMS Cheer had plenty to share Thursday. They took Spartan Spirit beyond the school walls with a visit to the Cleveland House (Bru/McGhee Center), where adults with special needs come together each week for socialization and activities.

Then they wrapped up the day on the sidelines, cheering as SMS Football earned its first WIN of the season 🏈

The Spartans were prepared for a hot one 🥵 Turns out, they were prepared for a long one, too 🏈

After a lightning delay, the temperature dropped (a little) — and the Spartans pressed the gas, finishing with plenty in the tank for a 33–14 win over MGM.

📣 Cheer led the Spartan spirit while cheers from students and fans who filled the stands — filled the air.

🎶🌙 At halftime, the Spartan Sound debuted DreamWorks, putting a soundtrack to the night.

Long night. Strong finish. Game one goes to the Spartans. 🔴⚪️

🏆 Champions for each other

The 2026 Saraland High School Softball AHSAA State Champions were honored by Mayor Joe McDonald and the Saraland City Council with an official proclamation recognizing their historic season—and the “Mudita-driven” culture behind it.

Mudita is finding genuine joy in the success of others, and these Lady Spartans showed what can happen when teammates celebrate one another, work together, and put team success first.

A special thank you to the families who supported, encouraged, and cheered them on all season long. This championship was a team effort on and off the field. ❤️🤍🥎
