Seamester

Seamester Sea|mester offers unique study abroad adventures sailing around the globe. www.Seamester.com

Seamester offers unique educational voyages where students spend up to an entire semester at sea, sailing between countries and continents. For more than 40 years, we have consistently delivered outstanding educational experiences for students. We design our programs to provide engaging learning experiences with real outcomes in ways that are impossible to replicate in the traditional classroom. L

iving as part of a close-knit team on an ocean-going vessel, students learn some of the most important lessons beyond academics: teamwork, hard work, and personal responsibility. All of our students receive academic credit from the University of South Florida along with PADI scuba certifications and IYT sail certifications. Our programs are designed to challenge students to realize that it is the journey, not the destination, that matters most.

One last landfall 🥹

Argo has officially arrived in Bali, bringing both our Fiji → Bali and Palau → Bali voyages to an end.

The final stretch brought whale sharks off Sumbawa, one last sunrise at sea, and a student-led passage that put Argo in the student’s hands, taking on the roles needed to run a 112-foot sailing vessel and bring her into Bali together. 🌅🐋🇮🇩

Then it was places to be, monkeys to see. 🐒🌴 The crew spent their final days surfing, exploring Bali, visiting Uluwatu Temple, catching a traditional fire dance, and soaking up their last bit of time together.

Another summer at sea is in the books — what a way to spend it. 🩵

The Argonauts have entered dragon territory 🐉⛵

Since leaving Raja Ampat, the crew has come face-to-face with Komodo dragons, spent an afternoon on Komodo’s iconic Pink Beach, explored unreal dive sites, completed their Rescue Diver training, and night dived under the Milky Way. 🤿🌌

They even kicked off a 4:30 AM sunrise hike with an actual earthquake beneath their feet. 🌋😳 Everyone is safe, and it definitely made for a sunrise they won’t forget.

Now the students are taking the helm for a student-led passage toward their next adventure.

The itinerary has been itinerary-ing🫡🌴

The past week has brought wreck dives and a hike up The Quill in Statia, wall dives with sharks and turtles in Saba, sea urchin research, glassmaking, and more stairs than anyone probably cares to count. 🌋🤿

Add in sailing, Rescue Diver training, NavMaster, Oceanography, and Seamanship, and Ocean Star has been busy.

Now they’re back in the BVI, sailing into Gorda Sound and making a stop at Saba Rock as the final stretch of the voyage gets underway. 🩵

Raja Ampat has entered the chat 💬

This last week has been filled with world-class diving, team relays on the beach, exploring Kri, hikes to Piaynemo, Rescue Diver training. Safe to say, a week that’s one for the books 🪸

Now Argo is back underway schoonin’ across the Banda Sea, spotting whales off the bow, chasing green flashes at sunset, and setting a course for Komodo National Park 🐋⛰️🐉

College summer semester, but your commute is an 88-foot schooner ⛵

On the way to class, you might watch a new island rise out of the horizon hours before you reach it 🏝️🌞

This past week, Ocean Star’s crew traded lecture breaks for the Nevis Culturama Festival (bringing home medals in the swim and diving competitions 🥇🥈).

They then sailed north to St. Barths, squeezed in Oceanography midterms and VHF exams, and somehow still found time to surf, do laundry, weave through superyachts in the dinghy, and wander the streets of Gustavia. 🛥️🇧🇱

This week in Palau, Argonauts welcomed new shipmates and explored one of the most incredible marine ecosystems on Earth together 🐠🪸🪼🫧🥥

Together, they spent the week exploring everything Palau had to offer—healthy reefs, waterfalls tucked into the rainforest, marine biology in action, sail handling, and the everyday rhythm of life aboard Argo.

📍Next stop: Raja Ampat

From fireworks over Boston to nothing but the horizon 🐟

Just over a week ago, the crew of Vela was marching in Boston’s parade, exploring historic tall ships, sailing dinghies in the harbor, and stocking up on enough snacks to survive weeks at sea.

Now, Vela’s crossing the North Atlantic

Trading city streets for watch rotations, leadership classes, sail handling, fresh tuna caught off the stern, dolphins, whales, and the endless blue of the Grand Banks of Newfoundland.

The next stop: Lisbon 🇵🇹⛵

A front-row seat to history. ⚓🇺🇸

This weekend, Vela sailed into Boston for Sail Boston, where a fleet of magnificent international tall ships and military vessels gathered in the harbor as part of Sail250, commemorating the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States.

But while thousands watched from shore, our students experienced it from the water.

For our students, it wasn’t just about watching history unfold—it was about being part of it. Overnight watches brought them into Boston Harbor before they helped dock the boat, cleaned Vela from bow to stern, explored the city, and ended the day watching fireworks from the water.

The iconic ships may have been the centerpiece, but the shared moments behind the scenes are what made this experience unforgettable. 🩵⛵
