Over 80 attendees at yesterday’s Campus of Caring Cinco de Mayo Celebration had a wonderful time enjoying food, relationship building, and great music.

Part of our Campus Connection & Learning Program, opportunities for the busy leaders and staff from our Campus’ 17 agencies to interact can lead to client referrals and collaborations benefitting our neighbors and community.

Thank you to Caring Collective board members Barbara Coleman, Henry Decoo, and Lisa Matthews (and past board member and Children’s Guardian Fund Executive Director Svetlana Ivashchenko) for attending and our CCLP sponsor, Gulf Coast Community Foundation.

Take one important topic (charitable giving), invite two experts to share their insights and recommendations, facilitate the conversation with a knowledgeable leader, bring together an audience of diverse professionals from our business, nonprofit, and consulting communities, add some food and networking, and you have a fantastic event!

Caring Collective proudly sponsored last week’s informative and interactive session hosted by Charitable Gift Planners of SWFL (CGPSWFL). Facilitated by Susie Bowie, Selby Foundation President/CEO (and CGPSWFL board leader), Sarasota Memorial Healthcare Foundation President Stacey Corley, and Williams Parker attorney Jeffrey Troiano shared many takeaways, stories, and recommendations on key topics, including gift agreements, gift acceptance policies, the importance of thoroughly understanding donor intent, and gift contingency planning.

Caring Collective CEO, Charlene Altenhain, affirmed to the audience Caring Collective’s mission and commitment to our community. Caring Collective board president Gail Welch, board member Barbara Coleman, and Chief Development & Marketing Officer (and CGPSWFL board member) Karen Zelden also attended. Thank you to CGPSWFL for the opportunity and the great work you accomplish for and in our community!

During Public Health Week (April 6-10), we were proud to see an aspect of our Emerging Leaders Program reflected in the community.

Launched in 2023, the Emerging Leaders Program is designed to cultivate the next generation of leaders across human services, arts & culture, and health. A key goal of the program is to foster meaningful connections among emerging and established leaders who are committed to strengthening our community.

That vision came to life when program supporter Bill Little, who, along with his wife Barbara, helped create and sponsor the Emerging Leaders Program, connected with past participants Tiona Settles and Andre McClerkin, Jr. at the Florida Department of Health Sarasota Open House on April 7th.

As Bill Little shared, "One of our hopes in establishing the Emerging Leaders Program was to see future community leaders connect, and it's good to see that happen."

"Seeing those connections happen in real time and through efforts that shape community health shows what's possible when we invest in people," said Charlene Altenhain, CEO of Caring Collective.

We're proud to support leadership development that contributes to our community's important conversation about health care, grateful for champions like Bill and Barbara Little, and excited to support Tiona and Andre in their leadership journeys.
