🔥 Today’s Jr. Ranger Program was a big hit! 🔥

Our Jr. Rangers learned all about Prescribed Burns and Wildfires and the important role fire plays in maintaining healthy ecosystems.

Rangers Kai and Amanda were on hand to explain the benefits of fire and how prescribed burns help create healthier habitats for the plants and animals that call Myakka River State Park home.

One of the biggest hits of the day was getting to dress up as a firefighter! 🚒 And, of course, everyone’s favorite part was getting a chance to use the fire hose! 💦🔥 The smiles said it all!

A big thank you to Rangers Kai and Amanda and to all of our Jr. Rangers for joining us today. We hope you had as much fun learning as we did sharing Myakka with you!

Have you stopped by the Ranger Station lately?

We've been busy refreshing the Friends Gift Shop with new T-shirts, hats, postcards, and other great merchandise!

We've also updated our information kiosk to make it more informative and visitor-friendly, and we've added a new "Seen in the Park" board featuring recent wildlife sightings and other park highlights.

If you're wondering what's happening at Myakka, be sure to stop by the Ranger Station and see what's new. Whether you're looking for the latest park news, wildlife updates, or the perfect souvenir, there's something for everyone!

Friends, we are one week away from our next fun and informative Jr. Ranger Saturday!

If you haven’t signed up yet, be sure to do so today. We’ll have one of our fire vehicles on-site for everyone to explore. Ranger Kai will discuss prescribed burns and their benefits to the environment.

You’ll also get to see the gear firefighters wear and learn how a prescribed burn is planned and conducted. We hope to see you there!
