Exciting Leadership Announcement!

Sarasota County Schools is pleased to announce that Mr. Jamal Crook has been appointed as the new Principal of Booker High School, effective Monday, June 1.

“I am humbled to serve as the new principal of Booker High School,” said Mr. Crook. “I am committed to fostering a culture of collaboration, inclusivity, and academic excellence for all students, teachers, and staff members. It will be an honor to build upon—and forge new—milestones with such a dynamic school community. I look forward to partnering with all community members and stakeholders to support the success and wellbeing of our students.”

Mr. Crook brings a wealth of leadership experience and a strong academic background. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education from Murray State University and a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Saint Leo University. His certifications span Biology (Grades 6–12), Educational Leadership, PreK–Primary Education, and School Principalship.

Most recently, Mr. Crook served as Principal of Buchanan Middle School in Tampa, and he has also held leadership roles at Bloomingdale High School, Ben Hill Middle School, and NLT Academy. In addition, he has contributed to higher education as an Adjunct Professor and supported school leadership through executive coaching.

Booker High School families, All Faiths Food Bank is offering a great opportunity to support students during the summer months. Eligible families can receive a SummerEats Card with one hundred twenty dollars per child (ages 5-17) to help purchase groceries while school is out. This program is designed to help reduce food insecurity and support our community, so be sure to learn more and take advantage of this resource.

We've now sold 80% of our yearbooks, so now is a great time to grab yours if you haven’t while supplies last! Yearbooks are $80 today and will increase to $85 tomorrow May 15th.

Any students that have yet to pick up their yearbook should stop by room 4-106 to pick up their copy before their school year wraps up! You can pick up your yearbook any day until school ends.

Students must have their current Booker High Student ID or other photo ID to pick up the yearbook.
