One of our board members, Andrea, received the sweetest text today about one of our Police Department’s Community Resource Officers, Officer Bentz.

While a group of elementary kids were out celebrating with ice cream after winning a pumpkin decorating contest, Officer Bentz happened to drive by… and instead of just passing through, she stopped to say hi.

The kids were beyond excited (honestly, I think that’s the real win over the ice cream 🍦).

It’s those small, unplanned moments that leave the biggest impact. Thank you, Officer Bentz, for taking the time to connect and making these kids’ day a little extra special 💙

The excitement is building! 💙

The Giving Challenge kicks off tomorrow at noon, and for 24 hours only, our community will come together in an incredible way to support local nonprofits!

During this 24-hour giving window, your impact goes even further. Thanks to The Patterson Foundation, every individual donation up to $100 will be matched dollar for dollar. That means your $25 becomes $50, and your $100 turns into $200 in support of our mission.

This year, we are especially proud to share our new K9 Retirement Program. Our K9 officers serve with unwavering loyalty and dedication, and when their service ends, they deserve continued care. This program helps provide for their food and any boarding needs in retirement, ensuring these loyal partners are supported long after they’ve hung up their badge.

We are so grateful to the incredible support from the Sarasota Manatee Bicycle Club!

The donation, presented by Don Stuart and Eugene Rider, will go directly toward bicycle safety and education efforts in our community. SPD partners with the club throughout the year to distribute helmets and bicycles, and to host riding safety courses at various community events, making sure both kids and adults stay safe on the road!

Andrea and Heather along with the Community Relations Unit, were at the department this morning to receive the check and personally thank them for their continued partnership and generosity 💙

We are still smiling from an incredible evening at the Sarasota Police Foundation Gala! We are so grateful to everyone who joined us! From celebrating our amazing officers and watching them receive well-deserved awards, to having DJ Jimmy T Entertainment help us fill the dance floor and sharing so many laughs, it was truly a night full of heart, fun, and community.

At the Sarasota Police Foundation, we believe in working hard for a great cause! We also know how to have a really good time while doing it! Because of your support, we were able to raise meaningful funds that help us continue our mission and make a positive impact right here in our community.
