🏢👀 BSPA SHOW UP Wed 8/12 6:30PM at Elk Club and hear about 168 apartments going in on Bath Street!
The developers of the Tannery Commons project (Blue Ridge Cascade) will be presenting site plans at the Village of Ballston Spa planning board meeting this Wednesday, August 12th at 6:30 PM at the Elks Club, 10 Hamilton Street in the village. The public is welcome and will be able to comment. Representatives of the developer met with neighbors in May where they were urged to reduce the number of units and height of the buildings to no more than three stories. Unfortunately, the plans have not changed; still four stories and 168 units. The buildings in the latest plans will (again) block the scenic view of the village from the Tedisco Nature Trail. The rear buildings would extend 18 to 20 feet above the trail. Walking the Tedisco trail you will look directly into the apartments. There are traffic and stormwater issues as well. There is no retail planned as required by the zoning code. The developers have not answered questions sent to them in May asking whether they will ask for a PILOT (payment in lieu of taxes, i.e. paying reduced taxes), will they serve special populations (homeless, mental health, etc ?), etc. Please come, ask questions, and voice your opinions. You can view the plans at the Village of Ballston Spa website: ballstonspa.gov
