A big shoutout to staff from the Santa Clara County Office of Education for spending time with students and staff at Argonaut Elementary School on the first day of school.

✏ We can't believe September is already here! It seems like the first days of school were yesterday. Thank you to Ms. Ollero for letting us spend some time with your class at Argonaut Elementary on your first day of school in late August. 🦉Ollie had a great time looking at the art around the campus and meeting staff from both SCCOE and Argonaut.

Last week Saratoga Union School District (SUSD) held Back to School Nights across all of our sites, three elementary schools and one middle school. These informational evenings gave parents the chance to connect with their students’ site principals and teachers while learning about expectations, curriculum, events and more for the 2026-2027 school year.

SUSD prides itself on our successful schools, recognizing that while our staff is a critical component of these achievements, a strong relationship with guardians goes hand in hand to ensure students thrive, flourish and learn.

In Saratoga Union School District, we want to ensure that every student feels welcome on our school campuses every day. Redwood Middle School was helping students connect with their interests during Club-a-Palooza during lunchtime last week. Students and volunteer leaders in clubs ranging from Garden Club to Spelling Bee, Rainbow Alliance, Student Ambassadors, Science Olympiad, Griffin Connect and Drama Club, were tabling, talking about their experiences with interested students and handing out flyers to encourage them to join.

Events like this build a strong sense of community, which helps our students thrive, flourish and learn at our four schools across the District year-round.

This morning parents are packing lunches while students lace up their shoes and strap on their backpacks, getting ready to head out the door to kick off the FIRST DAY of the 2026-2027 school year in the Saratoga Union School District! ✏️✨

School starts Thursday in Saratoga Union School District (SUSD) and while our students have been out for the summer, we’ve been tending to our gardens and nurturing life year-round! 🌳🦋 In the Saratoga Elementary School garden, District staff have been following monarch butterflies through their entire life cycle, from tiny eggs on the milkweed, to chrysalis, to finally unfolding their wings. We recently released them to take flight in the very habitat where they emerged, joining those who came before them.

Growth is never "one size fits all." Just like these monarchs, our students develop at their own unique pace, starting small and taking flight when they are truly ready to flourish. As life comes full circle, we can't wait to see our new and returning students "released" back into their school habitats and soaring into new classrooms this Thursday, August 13.

🎒✨ As Saratoga Union School District (SUSD) kicks off the new school year Thursday, August 13, we’re keeping a firm focus on both our immediate goals and the long-term future of our students and families.

Monday’s all-staff kick-off was full of high energy, from colleagues sharing warm hugs after a summer apart to our site principals and administrators rolling up their sleeves to dish out breakfast! During the meeting, Superintendent Dr. Ken Geisick reflected on a defining moment early in his career: "Net Day ‘96," when the Internet first transformed education.

Now, 30 years later, SUSD remains future-ready. We welcomed AI consultant A.J. Juliani to lead a discussion on how to responsibly embrace the ever-evolving technology while keeping that spirit of human connection front and center. After all, worksheets don't shape lives in education; teachers and personal connections do. Technology is simply the tool to enhance it.

🎶 The changes to the orchestra room at Redwood Middle School are music to our ears, long before our talented students have even returned with their instruments in hand for the new school year. Saratoga Union School District (SUSD) crews were busy cutting a rug (or quite a few) during a recent installation of new carpet there. During the summer project, they removed the choir steps so the space will be flat now to fit more students.

This is one of many NOTE-able changes and improvements the District has made across our school sites this summer in preparation for the new school year kicking off on August 13.

The countdown is officially on for the August 13 kickoff of the 2026-2027 school year in the Saratoga Union School District. As families are busy labeling supplies, double-checking school clothes and getting back into a morning routine, we want to make sure you have everything you need.

Additionally, get ready for those important first-day photos by printing out and using our District sign (found there) for your student to take a photo with on the big day. 📸 Submissions will be considered for our District community photo album.

Saratoga Union School District (SUSD) is paving a path of progress and growth for the students it serves! Check out the new concrete walkway connecting Saratoga Elementary School’s recently resodded field to their garden, a space where students cultivate their minds and build crucial outdoor learning skills.

We hope our summer facilities projects are cementing the idea that SUSD takes maintaining safe, high-quality spaces seriously. We can’t wait to walk these new paths together when the 2026–2027 school year kicks off on August 13!
