I am more than humbled by the outpouring of congratulations and support from not only the Sardis community but from everyone who has taken a moment to text, call, comment, etc. There are just too many for me to name individually but I do want to say that without God none of this is possible. I also must acknowledge and thank my beautiful wife Kelli and my family, all members of District 7 (there are way too many to name) for their unwavering support, to the Officers and staff of the Sardis Police Department, Mayor Roger Lane and the Sardis city council.
This will in no way impact my daily duties and responsibility to the citizens of Sardis but I now have the opportunity to voice issues and concerns of small agencies, counties and Chiefs directly to those who make decisions that affect our profession.
Thank you again to all of you!
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Chief Scotti Sanford Elected Chairman of District Representatives for the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police
SARDIS, GEORGIA — September 23, 2026 — The Sardis Police Department announces that Chief Scotti Sanford has been elected by his peers to serve on the Executive Board of the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police GACP as chairman of district representatives.
The election is an honor for Chief Sanford and the City of Sardis. In this statewide leadership role, he will represent police chiefs and district representatives from across Georgia.
Established in 1962, the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police is the largest professional association for law enforcement administrators in Georgia. The association promotes professional relationships among law enforcement leaders, provides training and continuing education, and creates opportunities for police executives to exchange information and experiences. GACP represents more than 600 law enforcement agencies and their chiefs throughout Georgia. Its district structure provides a statewide network through which police chiefs can communicate, share information, address common challenges and work to strengthen the law enforcement profession.
As chairman of district representatives, Chief Sanford will represent the 11 district representatives on the GACP Executive Board. Under the GACP Constitution, district representatives serve as an advisory body to the Executive Board, represent members in their respective districts and assist in disseminating information to district members. They also review and advise the Executive Board on matters affecting the association. The district representatives select one member to serve as chairman and represent the group as a voting member at Executive Board meetings. Chief Sanford has served as chief of police for the City of Sardis since 2013 and as the GACP District 7 representative since 2014. His longstanding involvement with the association has allowed him to work with police chiefs throughout Georgia and contribute to the continued professional development of law enforcement leaders.
GACP District 7 encompasses Burke, Columbia, Emanuel, Glascock, Jefferson, Jenkins, Lincoln, McDuffie, Richmond, Screven, Taliaferro, Warren and Wilkes counties. The Sardis Police Department is located within the district. [GACP](https://gachiefs.com/district-representatives/?utm_source=chatgpt.com)
