📚 Back-to-School Traffic Update – Jackson Avenue from City Manager Brittany Retherford

A few days ago, we shared the new traffic map for Jackson Avenue. We know some residents and parents had questions about the traffic pattern, so we’ve put together this short video to help walk everyone through it.

In this video, we’ll explain:
🚗 The designated traffic flow
⬅️ Where to enter and exit
🚸 The changes that will help keep everyone safe and keep traffic moving efficiently

Our goal is to make the first day of school as safe and smooth as possible for students, parents, staff, and our community.

Thank you for taking a few minutes to watch the video before Monday. Your patience and cooperation will help ensure a successful start to the school year!

Last night, the City of Satellite Beach was honored to receive a legislative appropriation check in the amount of $175,000 from Senator Debbie Mayfield for the purchase of a new public safety rescue boat.

Our current public safety boat has faithfully served both the Fire and Police Departments, but it now requires extensive repairs that would not significantly extend its service life. Thanks to this funding, the City will be able to purchase a new rescue boat with enhanced capabilities, ensuring our first responders have the reliable equipment they need to respond quickly and effectively throughout the many waterways that surround our community.

We are grateful to Senator Mayfield and Representative Tyler Sirois for their support during the last legislative session and for their continued commitment to the safety of our residents and visitors.

🚧TRAFFIC ADVISORY: South Patrick Drive Traffic Shift Begins August 2🚧

Starting as early as Sunday, August 2, motorists can expect a temporary traffic shift on South Patrick Drive (S.R. 513) at Banana River Drive as part of the Florida Department of Transportation's resurfacing project.

This traffic pattern is expected to remain in place for approximately three months while utility work is completed.

Here's what drivers need to know:

⚠️ Northbound traffic on South Patrick Drive will be shifted to the southbound side of the roadway, with one lane open in each direction.

⛔ Access from South Patrick Drive to eastbound Banana River Drive will be closed.

🚫 Drivers traveling west on Banana River Drive will not be able to cross South Patrick Drive.

👇 Check the attached detour map for alternate routes.

FDOT advises motorists to reduce speed, follow posted signage, and exercise extra caution in the work zone area. There will be periodic single-lane closures outside of the traffic shift during both daytime and nighttime hours.

Construction schedules may change due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances. For the latest project updates and lane closure information, visit: www.cflroads.com/project/448792-1
