Satsuma High School is excited to welcome Dr. Natalie Lewis as our new 8th Grade Mathematics Teacher.

A proud Satsuma graduate, Dr. Lewis brings a wealth of experience in education, instructional leadership, coaching, and administration. She holds degrees from Auburn University, William Carey University, and has dedicated her career to helping students grow academically and personally.

Dr. Lewis is passionate about creating a supportive learning environment where every student feels valued, challenged, and empowered to succeed. We are thrilled to have her return home to Satsuma and look forward to the positive impact she will make in our classrooms and throughout our school community.

The Satsuma community is invited to join us as we officially welcome Coach Jason Phillips as the new Athletic Director and Head Football Coach of Satsuma High School.

Satsuma High School is excited to welcome Mrs. Davis Godbee as our new School Counselor serving students in grades 7–10!

Mrs. Godbee brings a passion for supporting students academically, socially, and emotionally, and we are thrilled to have her join the Gator Nation. Her commitment to building positive relationships and helping students achieve success will be a tremendous asset to our school community.

Welcome Coach Phillips!

Satsuma City Schools is pleased to announce the hiring of Coach Jason Phillips as the next Athletic Director and Head Varsity Football Coach at Satsuma High School.

Coach Phillips joins the Gator family after serving the past five years as Athletic Director and Head Football Coach at Excel High School. Throughout his career, which includes coaching stops at Excel, Saraland High School, St. Luke's Episcopal School, and Lott Middle School, Coach Phillips has established a proven record of building successful programs, developing student-athletes, and fostering cultures of excellence. His leadership has resulted in athletic success on the field, expanded opportunities for students, and the advancement of numerous student-athletes to collegiate competition.

Coach Phillips expressed his enthusiasm for joining the Gator family:

"I am truly honored to be named the Athletic Director and Head Football Coach at Satsuma High School. I am grateful to Superintendent Dana Price and Principal Dr. Jason Golden for affording me this opportunity. I believe we have a special opportunity to make a lasting impact and legacy on Satsuma High School and the City of Satsuma. I ask our alumni, community and business leaders, parents, administrators, faculty, and students to join me as we work together to positively impact our school, our community, and the lives of our students. Go Gators!"

Coach Phillips is a native of Sylacauga, Alabama, where he met his wife, Jennifer. The two have been married for 30 years. Together, they have three sons. Luke, Colby, and Garrett, as well as a daughter-in-law, Grace Phillips. The Phillips family is especially excited about the year ahead as they prepare to welcome their first grandson this fall and a second daughter-in-law, Ms. Kirsten Joiner, into the family.

Superintendent Dana Price shared her thoughts on the selection:

"I recently read that athletic programs are like a school's front porch. For many people, their first impression of a school comes through their experiences with its athletic programs. Because of that, building and sustaining successful programs is an important priority. Coach Phillips brings a proven record of success, strong leadership, and outstanding character. I am excited to welcome him to the Gator family and believe he has the vision, experience, and commitment to build upon the proud tradition of excellence that already exists in Satsuma."

The community is invited to attend a Meet the Coach event on Wednesday, June 17, at 5:00 p.m. at the Satsuma City Schools Central Office. Parents, students, alumni, community members, and business leaders are encouraged to attend, meet Coach Phillips, and hear his vision for the future of Gator Athletics.

Congratulations to Davie Alford on an outstanding bowling season!

As an 8th grader, Davie earned:

AHSAA 1A-5A Individual Bowling State Champion

AHSBCA 1A-5A First Team All-State

AHSBCA 1A-7A Second Team All-State

With an impressive 157 average, Davie continues to represent Satsuma with excellence both on and off the lanes. We are proud of your hard work, dedication, and accomplishments.

Incoming 9th–12th grade students are invited to participate in the SHS Road to Graduation Future Ready Challenge this summer!

This challenge is designed to help students explore college, career, and personal growth opportunities while preparing for life after high school.

Students may visit Ms. Jernigan in the SHS Media Center on Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout the summer to pick up challenge materials, check out books, and visit Gator Grounds.

This summer, incoming 7th and 8th grade students are invited to participate in Governor Ivey's Summer Reading Challenge through SHS Gator Grounds!

Students who complete the challenge will:
Read 6 books of their choice
Complete a reflection or drawing about what they learned
Earn 6 punches on their Gator Grounds Membership Card
Unlock special Gator Grounds perks and recognition

Need a reading log or submission form?

Students may visit the SHS Media Center on Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout the summer to:
Pick up challenge forms
Check out books
Learn more about Gator Grounds
Track their progress

Once completed, submit your reading log and reflection to Mrs. Jernigan in the SHS Library to receive your Gator Grounds punches!
