It is with heavy hearts that the Saugerties Fire Department mourns the passing of our brother and fellow firefighter, James “Jimmy” Gage.

Jim was more than a member of the fire service he was a friend, a brother, and part of the Saugerties Fire Department family. His dedication, service, and the memories he created with his fellow firefighters will not be forgotten.

Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with Jim’s family, friends, and all those who had the privilege of knowing and serving alongside him.

🚨Press Release🚨

Attached is the official press release from the Glasco Fire District regarding an early morning fire on Rt 32

07/30/2026

Yesterday, members of the Centerville Cedar Grove Fire District responded to 18 calls for service between 6AM and 5PM remaining in near-continuous service throughout the day as severe weather and flooding impacted our community.

Yesterday’s incidents included:

1 mutual aid standby assignment for a reported structure fire in the Glasco Fire District.
2 water rescues of stranded motorists, including 1 within our district and 1 mutual aid response to the Malden-West Camp Fire District.
1 tree down blocking a roadway.
1 evacuation of stranded residents from a home threatened by rapidly rising floodwaters.
13 public service calls for flooding inside residences.

Throughout the day, our members worked tirelessly to provide assistance to residents, ensuring the safety of our community during these challenging conditions.

One of the day’s most notable incidents occurred at approximately 12:31 PM, when the department was dispatched to Old Route 212 for a vehicle that had become disabled in floodwaters with one occupant trapped inside. Firefighters safely accessed the stranded motorist and successfully brought them to safety without further incident.

The Centerville Cedar Grove Fire District would like to remind all motorists that flooded roadways and rapidly rising water are extremely dangerous. Never drive around barricades or ignore road closure signs. These closures are in place to protect the public, and conditions beneath the water are often impossible to determine. Even a small amount of moving water can sweep a vehicle off the roadway.

We thank our dedicated volunteers for their unwavering commitment and the residents of our community for their patience and cooperation throughout today’s emergency operations. Please continue to monitor weather conditions, use caution while traveling, and avoid unnecessary travel in areas affected by flooding.
