Fire Press Release Narrative:

At 09:30 hours on June 4, 2026, the Sauk City Fire Department was dispatched along with Prairie du Sac Fire and Sauk Prairie Ambulance as auto aid to a residence in the town of Roxbury for a reported structure fire with smoke coming from the roof.

Sauk E1 arrived on scene at 09:39 and observed smoke coming from the roof of a single-family residence. The engine crew immediately began an offensive interior attack in the attached garage. Sauk Fire Command requested a MABAS (Mutual Aid Box Alarm System) activation for additional resources to the scene. First arriving units were able to get a quick knockdown of the fire.

The fire was considered under control at 9:50. Additional responding units continued in to help with overhaul and to backfill our firehouse. Crews started ventilation and overhaul, while salvaging items in the residence. The garage structure sustained damage from smoke and water. Damage estimates to the structure and its contents are unknown, and the cause of the fire is still undetermined and under investigation at this time. All fire units returned to quarters at 11:18 hours.

The Sauk City Fire Department was assisted by the Prairie du Sac Fire Department, Lodi Area Fire Department, Mazomanie Fire Department, Black Earth Fire Department, Dane Volunteer Fire Department, Waunakee Fire Department, Middleton Fire District, Baraboo Area Fire and EMS District, Arlington Fire Department, Sauk Prairie Ambulance, Waunakee Area EMS, Madison Gas and Electric, Alliant Energy, and the Dane County Sheriff’s Department.

Last week, the Sauk Prairie Healthcare Foundation presented checks to the Sauk City, Prairie du Sac, and Merrimac Fire Departments to purchase patient transport tarps to be used on EMS-related incidents. Pictured are representatives from all three fire departments as well as Sauk Prairie Ambulance and Todd Wuerger and Belle Koch from Sauk Prairie Hospital. We greatly appreciate their support of our departments and making purchases like these possible!
