Our area saw a significant amount of rain fall in a very short period of time this afternoon, leaving the ground heavily saturated. As the second round of storms moves through our area later this evening with strong winds, this combination increases the risk of trees uprooting, power lines coming down, and potential damage to homes and other structures.

Residents should also be prepared for the possibility of power outages. Saturated ground and strong winds make downed trees and power lines more likely. If you experience a power failure, please report it directly to your utility provider and avoid any downed lines.

Our number one priority is the safety of our residents and the safety of our first responders who are out in these conditions.

Please stay alert, avoid hazards, and remain indoors if you do not need to travel until the storms pass. Thank you for helping keep our community safe.

We are not only grateful to have received a grant from the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation, but we are also incredibly blessed to have been awarded a $26,000 Small Equipment Grant from the Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshal for the purchase of additional extrication equipment.

This is what happens when teamwork, dedication, and a shared vision come together to accomplish one common goal. When people are willing to put in the hard work and remain committed to serving their community, the blessings begin to flow. As the saying goes, when the floodgates of heaven open, nothing but blessings pour out.

We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to every member of the Sauk Village Fire Department who played a role in making these accomplishments possible. Your hard work, professionalism, and commitment to excellence continue to move this department forward.

These grants will help us enhance our emergency response capabilities and provide an even greater level of service to the residents and visitors of Sauk Village.

This is just the beginning. The future is bright, and we look forward to continuing to build upon these successes together.
Thank you for your dedication, your sacrifice, and your unwavering commitment to our community.

We are grateful to receive a $38,100 grant from the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation to support our emergency response efforts. This funding will be used to purchase battery-powered extrication equipment, helping ensure our department is better equipped to serve the Sauk Village community. Thank you to the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation, our local Firehouse Subs restaurant in Hobart, Indiana and the generous donors who made this possible!

At approximately 8:30 PM this evening, the Sauk Village Fire Department and Ford Heights Fire Department responded to a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Route 394 and Sauk Trail. The intersection remained closed for approximately two hours while paramedics treated and transported three individuals and crews worked to safely clear the scene.

We would like to thank the Ford Heights Fire Department for their assistance with an Engine Company, as well as the Steger Fire Department and Crete Fire Department for providing ambulance support. Their professionalism and support are always greatly appreciated.

We also want to remind all drivers to please follow the directions of emergency personnel when being routed around an incident. We understand detours may be inconvenient, but these measures are necessary to ensure the safety of our first responders as they work on scene.

Thank you for your cooperation and support.

This morning, the Sauk Village Fire Department responded to a two‑vehicle crash in the 21700 block of Torrence Avenue. One driver sustained a minor injury and was treated and transported by our paramedics while the other driver refused treatment and transport. Both drivers were wearing their seatbelts, which played a major role in preventing more serious injuries.
Torrence Avenue was shut down for about an hour and a half while crews worked the scene and the roadway was cleared. We appreciate the community’s patience during the reroute.
Crashes can happen in an instant. Please wear your seatbelt every time you’re in a vehicle and practice defensive driving—slow down, stay alert, and expect the unexpected.
