Riveredge Family Nature Club will be at the 2026 Mammoth Hike Challenge Kickoff Hike at Ridge Run Park on October 3rd at 9am! This collaboration with the West Bend Library, Ice Age Trail Alliance, and Culver’s celebrates the start of the month-long Mammoth Hike Challenge. Meet Monty the Mammoth, listen to a story, enjoy a 1.6 mile hike, and finish off with some tasty frozen custard.

Riveredge Family Nature Club will soon return! Come out for our free welcome back potluck at Riveredge on September 17 at 5pm - We will catch up with each other, catch crayfish, play games, enjoy a potluck dinner together and end the day with s’mores (our treat!).

If the skies are clear, volunteer astronomer Jim Hahn will lead stargazing through binoculars, beginning after sunset.

Family Nature Club is a free offering to our community designed for kids and their families. We facilitate outdoor, environmental-education based experiences for families to enjoy together. All kids ages 0-18 and their families are welcome!

This month’s Healthy River Community Citizen Tip: Help Reduce Litter near Waterways! Litter like food containers, fishing line, bottles, plastic bags, and other trash can release contaminants and microplastics. Litter is also lethal for wildlife if they become entangled or accidentally ingest garbage. If you see litter near a waterway of any kind, you can help by removing it (as long as you can do so safely). Every piece of litter removed helps our creeks, rivers, and lakes stay cleaner and healthier.

To stay safe while on a litter-removing mission, make sure to wear protective gloves and stay aware of potentially dangerous water conditions and other hazards in your surroundings like poison ivy.

Riveredge partners with the Healthy River Communities of Grafton, Newburg, and Saukville to help educate residents about how they can enjoy and protect their local waters. If your municipality is interested in becoming a Healthy River Community, contact John Rakowski at 262-375-2715 to get involved.

This series explores watershed restoration efforts, clean water infrastructure, and long term success of the sturgeon through storytelling, expert perspectives, and shared dialogues. Riveredge staff will be joined by leaders from other community organizations working towards a healthier watershed for all.
