2020 Sault Tribe Internship Program

The Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians is now accepting applications for the 2020 Sault Tribe Internship Program. The Sault Tribe Internship Program is intended to provide Sault Tribe member college students with an opportunity to learn more about the Sault Tribe and gain practical experience in their chosen field of study.

Length of Internship
The 2020 Sault Tribe Internship Program is an 8-week experience, beginning on Monday, June 15, 2020 and concluding on Friday, August 8, 2020. If your academic schedule conflicts with these dates, alternate arrangements may be made, although this is not guaranteed. This must be noted on your application.

Compensation for Interns
Interns will earn $12.50 per hour for 40 hours worked per week.

MI Student Aid Outreach Team Visiting EUP

Students and families in the Eastern Upper Peninsula looking for help paying for college should save the date for “Show Me The Money Day” in Chippewa County later this week.

From 4-6 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 20, the Michigan Department of Treasury’s MI Student Aid outreach team will be at Kinross Recreation Center to help with scholarship searches, college financing strategies and state program eligibility lookups, as well as provide a resource table with financial aid materials. In addition, students eligible for the Tuition Incentive Program, one of Michigan’s largest financial aid programs, can complete their applications on-site.

“This is a great opportunity for students and families in the Eastern Upper Peninsula to learn about the options available when paying for college,” said Anne Wohlfert, executive director of Treasury’s Office of Postsecondary Financial Planning. “We look forward to meeting with everyone as they navigate the financial aid process. It’s also a great opportunity receive assistance completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid.”

Kinross Recreation Center is located at 43 Wood Lake Road in Kincheloe. The “Show Me The Money Day” event is FREE and open to the public “Show Me The Money Day” events are hosted by Community Economic Development Association of Michigan members during tax season and feature free tax assistance, financial workshops and access to community resources.

Join the Lake Superior State University Native American Center on Wednesday, February 12th for an Indian Taco. If you have never tried one you will not be disappointed. If you have, then you already know. We will have Indian Tacos available from 11AM to 2PM. Donations are being accepted to raise funds for their Spring Pow Wow on April 18th, in the Student Activity Center on campus. Everyone is welcome and we can prepare to-go orders! Indian Tacos can be modified to meet anyone's dietary needs.
