Eastern Upper Peninsula Regional Planning and Development Commission We assist Eastern U.P. municipalities and counties with grant writing, surveys, land use, and more. The EUPRPDC is one of 14 agencies in the State of Michigan.

It was established in 1968 as a multi-county organization to pool resources for the assistance of local governments in the Eastern Upper Peninsula.

Earlier this month, EUP Regional Planning staffers, along with our partners from the Chippewa County EDC, Sault Ste. Marie (MI) EDC, and Sault Ste. Marie (ONT) EDC, were provided a tour of the new Soo Locks project by Kevin Cullen from the US Army Corps of Engineers. This massive project and investment in the Soo Locks is being made with an eye to the future and will allow more efficient passage of 1,000 foot freighters from Lake Superior to the St. Marys River system and the lower Great Lakes. EUP Regional Planning has been engaged in bi-national economic development efforts since 2018, with the completion of the EDA funded Transportation Logistics Strategy, which studied assets on both sides of the border in the “Twin Sault’s” as we continue to explore initiatives to advance economic development in the region.

Meet Kim Wilcox 👋

She is our Administrative Specialist and has worked at EUP Regional Planning & Development for 10 years. As the Administrative Specialist, Kim provides support to the CEO and Planning Staff, organizes and assists with the daily operations of the office, and acts as recording secretary for the Commission's Board and Committees.

Her favorite thing about her job is working with coworkers on various projects!
