Are you considering letting your child stay home alone before or after school? Sign up for our Latchkey Program hosted by Savage Fire and Police! It's designed to prepare kids ages 8 – 12 for this new responsibility.

Educational topics include:
• Getting organized for morning alone time
• Getting home safely after school
• What to do when someone calls/comes to the door
• How to call 911 in case of an emergency
• Basic first aid and choking response
• Fire safety, escape plans & severe weather safety
• Handling sibling arguments
• Kitchen safety and healthy snacks
• and more!

Two Dates Available: August 17 & 19
Registration Deadline: August 13
Ages: 8-12

We are saddened to share the passing of former Savage firefighter and Captain John Flategraff. John dedicated many years to the department, leaving a lasting impact through his service and leadership. He will be deeply missed and remembered always. Our thoughts are with his family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 8 at Bonnerup Funeral Home. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service.

Neighbors knowing neighbors is one of the most effective ways to prevent crime. Join Night to Unite on Tuesday, August 4, and schedule block parties, cookouts, or events to just get to know one another and promote community safety. 👋

Groups from Savage Police Department, Savage Fire Department- Minnesota, Public Works, and other local officials will visit as many registered parties as possible. We'll also be collecting donations for school supplies, diapers, and non-perishable food items, which will be distributed locally.

We invite individuals, childcare providers, and business/organizations who want to become CPR/First Aid Certified to join us on Saturday, June 13 at Station 1 from 8 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. to learn:
✅ Adult/Child/Infant CPR and AED use
✅ First aid basics
✅ Medical & injury emergencies
✅ Environmental emergencies
✅ Preventing illness and injury
✅ Opioid-associated life-threatening emergencies
