You might be noticing some activity around town- small flags popping up in your yard or big rolls of orange tubing along the roadside. That’s because several companies are once again installing underground fiber‑optic lines in Savage. These lines bring high‑speed internet (also called broadband) to homes and businesses. Before they can start, each company has to get a right‑of‑way permit from the City, which allows them to work in public easements and along the roadway.

What you need to know:
➡️ The City of Savage is not conducting this work.
➡️ Before starting work in a neighborhood, the companies are expected to provide customer service contact information to property owners (such as yard signage, door hangers, etc.)
➡️ If you have concerns or questions about the project, please follow up directly with the company performing the project.
➡️ Before digging begins, underground utilities are marked with paint or flags to indicate their location and prevent accidental damage.
➡️ The white flags on your property indicate the planned route for underground fiber installation.
➡️ The fiber companies are responsible for restoring any areas affected by construction, including repairing any damage to grass, sprinkler systems, underground dog fencing systems, asphalt, and concrete.

For more information, common FAQs, company contacts, and status updates, go to letstalksavage.com/fiber-installation-projects. You can also use an interactive map to look up your address and see what work is happening near you.

On behalf of the Savage Police Department, I want to express our profound sorrow following the tragic loss of Minnesota State Patrol Lt. Tyler Uthe.

This loss is deeply personal to our department. Lt. Uthe was the husband of Savage Police Sergeant Ashley Uthe and the father of their two young children. Ashley’s twin sister, Officer Alex Vogel, also serves with our department. Today, our police family grieves alongside the Uthe and Vogel families, as well as our colleagues at the Minnesota State Patrol.

We ask our community to keep the Uthe and Vogel families in your thoughts during the difficult days ahead and to honor their request for privacy as they grieve.

The support and kindness of this community mean more than words can express. Thank you for standing with our officers and their families during this heartbreaking time.

Sincerely,
Chief Brady Juell

It's HOT out, Savage! We’re all trying to stay cool, and we need your help to make sure our water supply can keep up. With the heat cranked up and scheduled upgrades happening at Water Treatment Plant #3, wise water use is important right now. Here's what to remember about outdoor watering:

💧 Everyone: No outdoor watering from noon to 5 p.m.
💧 Addresses ending in an odd number (1,3,5,7,9): Water only on odd-numbered dates
💧 Addresses ending in an even number (0,2,4,6,8): Water only on even-numbered dates

Learn more about watering wisely at savagemn.gov/departments/utilities/wise-water-use. Thanks for doing your part!
