Kindergarten and first grade read their second Building Block Nominee-One Red Sock by Jennifer Sattler. They played a math sock matching game and learned some facts about Hippos on Pebble Go and a nonfiction book.

Kindergarten and 1st grade heard the Building Block Award nominee The Pigeon HAS to go to School by Mo Willems. Kindergarten built a school that the pigeon could drive into and 1st grade had to make a way to get the pigeon to school.

Kindergarten extended their Mo Willems pigeon unit to his Piggie and Elephant books. They made Piggie and Elephant using play doh.

One of the Show Me Award Nominees this year is When Pencil Met Eraser by Luis O. Ramos and Karen Kilpatrick. 2nd and 3rd graders listened to this story and made their own pencil/eraser drawings. Then we continued the fun with their next book When Pencil Met the Markers. They made blobs and a classmate turned them into something using pencils. Check them out!
