Heat index values are anticipated to climb over 105 degrees. Hot temperatures mixed with high humidity can cause heat related emergencies. Be sure to stay hydrated, take frequent breaks in the shade, and if you feel like you’re getting too hot get inside an air conditioned building to cool down.

If you have plans to attend the fair please be sure to stay hydrated with water. Sodas and sugary drinks can dehydrate you faster. Be sure to cool off in the exhibit building as needed. Avoid eating a lot of food at once, especially if it’s “heavy” or greasy, so you don’t get sick.

A lot of rain has fallen in a short amount of time. Please watch roadways for pooling and drive cautiously to avoid hydroplaning. Low lying areas may be impacted creating localized flooding issues.

The rain is moving on in. Severe threat is currently low but as you can see there’s lots of lightning activity in this system.

The latest update from SPC and NWS-Memphis is out.

This morning, we could see a scattered shower or two, but the greater threat lies later on this evening. As you can see, we are now expanding into the level 2, slight risk category for southern HC. The majority of HC still remains in the level 1, marginal risk category. This system has the potential to shift further into HC with a level 2 risk. Stay weather-aware this evening into overnight.

Multiple rounds of severe thunderstorms are forecast to impact portions of the Mid-South tomorrow.

We have moved into the slight risk for severe storms along and west of the Mississippi River. The marginal risk remains to the east.

Damaging winds will be the primary threat. Large hail and flash flooding will be secondary threats.

Time will tell how this system shifts! For now, we are just in the general "Thunderstorm" category, so nothing severe is expected. Still, as with any storm, look out for sudden strong wind gusts and brief heavy downpours. We'll be keeping an eye on it! 👀
