The following information should never be published on Internet-based capabilities and External Official Presences sites:
a. Casualty information before the next-of-kin has been formally notified by the Service concerned
c. Information protected by the Privacy Act
d. Information regarding incidents under investigation
e. Information considered Essential Elements of Friendly Information (EEFI
)
f. For Official Use Only information
g. Information identified on the current Critical Information list
h. Personally Identifiable Information (PII)
i. Sensitive acquisition or contractual information
2.Security items to implement when establishing an EOP:
a. Set security options to allow visibility to “friends only” in privacy settings. Do not reveal sensitive information such as schedules and event locations that are not open to the public. Geotagging is a feature that reveals your location to other people within your network. Turn off the GPS function of your smartphone and digital camera when posting photos on a military installation.
3. (1) Posts will be removed if they violate the guidelines listed below:
(a) No graphic, obscene, or explicit comments or submissions. (b) No racial comments or submissions nor do we allow comments that are abusive, hateful or intended to defame anyone or any organization. (c) No solicitations or advertisements. This includes promotion or endorsement of any financial, commercial or non-governmental agency. Similarly, we do not allow attempts to defame or defraud any financial, commercial or non-governmental agency. (d) No copyrighted or trademarked images or graphics. Imagery posted on the Facebook wall should be owned by the user. (e) No comments or photos that suggest or encourage illegal activity. (f) No documents of any kind should be posted on this page. (g) You participate at your own risk, taking personal responsibility for your comments, your username and any information provided. (h) The appearance of external links on this site does not constitute official endorsement on behalf of the U.S. Army or Department of Defense. 4. Self promotion. Do not use your rank, job, and/or responsibilities to promote oneself online for personal or financial gain is not appropriate. Such actions can damage the image of the Army and a unit.
5. Paid submissions. It is against Army regulations to accept compensation for posts to endorse an organization. Treat requests from non-governmental blogs for a blog post as a media request and coordinate with your public affairs officer.
