Today for our JROTC Cadet of the Week, we are highlighting CDT Samantha Salazar from Forest Hill Community High School!

"Cadet CPT Samantha Salazar is an exemplary role model and the embodiment of perseverance. JROTC has been her foundation since 9th grade, but it was in 10th grade that she discovered her true challenge in Marksmanship. From the start, she adapted quickly, overcoming every obstacle in her path and rising above all obstacles to compete at the Florida State Championship this past weekend. Now in 11th grade, with only 1.5 years on the Marksmanship Team, Cadet Salazar earned 1st place in the kneeling position and 7th place overall in the state of Florida, a remarkable achievement. Beyond Marksmanship, Cadet Salazar excels in multiple leadership and team roles. She serves as the Battalion S3, JLAB Team Captain, Drum Line member, Drill Team member, and performs in numerous Color Guard events. Despite her demanding schedule, she consistently maintains a 3.85+ GPA in the rigorous IB Program and is on the Honor Roll every year. Cadet Salazar is a true team player, a leader among her peers, and a trusted Cadet in the program. She exemplifies dedication, resilience, and excellence, and stands as a proud reflection of the JROTC mission."

"Cadet Captain Jameria Hughes exemplifies the highest standards of leadership and dedication within the Jackson State ROTC Tiger Battalion. Actively engaged and highly motivated since her MS1 year, she consistently demonstrates exceptional leadership among her peers by mentoring fellow cadets, motivating them to improve, and setting a positive example through her actions. She continually seeks opportunities to grow as a leader, frequently taking the initiative to request mentorship and guidance from both Cadre and cadet leadership in order to refine her skills and improve her performance. Her dedication is further demonstrated through significant improvements in her physical fitness and her commitment to excellence, having competed in the Ranger Challenge competition for two consecutive years. She expeditiously led her team’s movement, leading from the front with decisive action and demonstrating superb excellence while commanding her team through the gr***de lane. Today for our SROTC Cadet of the Week, we are highlighting CDT Katleynn Case from Mississippi State University Army ROTC!

"Cadet Case consistently sets herself apart from her peers through her maturity, reliability, and unwavering commitment to the program. As an MSIII and the Cadet Operations SGM, she demonstrates a level of ownership and initiative, ensuring training events are planned, resourced, and executed to standard. Her prior experience as the Bulldog Battery Commander shows a clear pattern of trusted leadership and she continues to build on that foundation with every opportunity presented.

What truly distinguishes her is her presence. She is consistently the first to step up and the last to step away from a task.
