Hardin County Fire Department- District 8

Hardin County Fire Department- District 8 HCFD District 8 serves the communities of Burnt Church ,Old Town, Big Ivy, Rogers Creek , Germany Branch ,and Gillis Mills in Hardin County Tennessee.

We have Station 1 in Burnt Church and Station 2 at Rogers Dr and Hwy 203. District 8 covers the area of Burnt Church all of Hwy 203 from the English Creek Bridge to the Wayne County line including all of the Big Ivy and Gillis Mills areas. We cover Old Town Loop and part of Hwy 64 . We join Districts 5, 6, 9,10,11 in call areas, which is the other parts of Hwy 64, Old Town Loop, Hwy 203, County Home Rd, Olivet, Hwy 226, Olive Hill, Harbert Hills and Walnut Grove area.

SMOKE ALARMS SAVE A LIFE
12:10 AM, July 10, 2026. Firefighters responded to a reported residential fire on Damron loop in Counce TN. Firefighters arrived within 8 minutes and found a fire in the bathroom, the fire was quickly extinguished and smoke ventilated from the home. The cause of the fire was a candle left burning on the sink too close to the curtain. The occupant of the home was awakened by a smoke alarm that had been installed by the Hardin County fire department in April of this year. This makes a total of 44 lives saved since our free smoke alarm program started in 2012. We have Installed over 18,000 smoke alarms in Hardin County, if you need free smoke alarms please call 731-925-6178 or text Chief Martin at 731-607-0346 and we will get them installed for you !

Join us for the 2nd Annual Gary Sinise Foundation 9/11 Firefighter Training Conference, a memorial dedicated to honoring the 343 FDNY firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice on September 11, 2001. The conference begins Thursday, September 10, 2026, with the Remembrance & Fellowship Gathering at the Gary Sinise Foundation Headquarters in Franklin, Tennessee. The evening includes an opening ceremony, a tribute to the fallen, dinner, and an opportunity to connect with firefighters from across the country. Training continues September 11โ€“13 as Training To Perform Under Pressure presents โ€œDominate the Mind, Dominate the Fireground,โ€ a three-day, reality-based training program focused on building repeatable systems for The Big Four fireground functions. Through progressive, hands-on training, participants will develop the competence and confidence to perform under pressure when it matters most. Thanks to the Gary Sinise Foundation, the conference, lodging, and Thursday evening dinner are provided at no cost to attendees.

Dear Heavenly Father,

As we step into a brand-new month, we place July into Your hands.

Be with the first responders who will spend holidays away from home, birthdays at the station, and long shifts serving complete strangers. Strengthen their bodies, calm their minds, and surround them with Your protection wherever the job takes them.

Be with the spouses holding things together at home. When the loneliness creeps in, remind them they are never alone. Give them patience for the unexpected, peace in the waiting, and joy in the ordinary moments.

Watch over the children who miss Mom or Dad while theyโ€™re answering calls. Fill their hearts with comfort and help them always know how deeply they are loved.

Lord, for the families carrying heavy burdens that no one else can see, be their refuge. For those grieving, bring comfort. For those feeling burned out, bring rest. For those facing uncertainty, bring hope.

As fireworks light up the July sky, remind us that You have placed a light within each of us tooโ€”a spark of purpose, courage, compassion, and faith. Help us shine brightly in our homes, our communities, and everywhere You have called us to serve.

May this month be filled with unexpected blessings, meaningful moments together, laughter that heals weary hearts, and countless reminders of Your faithfulness.

Protect every ambulance, fire engine, patrol car, dispatch center, and every family waiting for their loved one to come home.

We trust You with every call, every shift, every goodbye, and every homecoming.

Accidents happen, and it's important that you know the steps to take just in case. Below are the basic and simple steps to take care of the burn until First Responders and EMS arrive.

๐Ÿ’ REMOVE JEWELRY: You must take off rings, bracelets, or tight clothes right away. Once swelling starts, these items cause major problems!

โš ๏ธ WATCH THE CLOTHING: Do NOT pull off clothing that is melted or stuck to the skin. Just cool it with water and leave it alone.

Skip the home remedies: Never put butter, grease, or ice on a burn. Stick to cool running water.
