The Savannah Police Department has received several calls regarding scooters. These calls include children almost being struck by vehicles, due to the scooters not stopping at intersections. We have also received multiple calls of scooters being driven in a careless manner all through town. I have personally seen children turn in the middle of the street without looking, again almost being struck by a vehicle. I ask all parents of children with scooters to please go over safe operations with their children. They must abide by all traffic and safety laws of the City of Savannah. Even riding on the sidewalk, they must stop at intersections.

We have also noticed an uptick in vandalism at our beautiful city parks. The latest was vandalism on the brand-new picnic tables. The Parks Department spend a lot of time and effort to ensure we have nice, beautiful, and safe parks. If you see or know of anyone vandalizing the parks please call the Savannah Police Department so we can get prosecution on the suspects.

This morning the Savannah Police Department received a call of a Mountain Lion in the city limits of Savannah. This has not been confirmed as the Savannah Police Department has not yet received any videos of this animal. If any citizen obtains a video of the animal please reach out to the Andrew County Sheriff’s Office so they can dispatch an officer to review it. As always, stay safe.

We have been made aware of dirt bikes, side by sides, and four wheelers being rode around the reservoir and causing damage to the property. Please be aware that being caught tearing up city property will result in the vehicle being towed and summons being issued.

To address the post on the Andrew County Crime Page. There was not a shooting at Messick Park today or in the recent past. The park is still open to public use. We are not sure where this rumor stems from, however we assure you that it is just a rumor.

On February 2nd of this year. The persons and vehicle shown below were involved in stealing a purse from a parked vehicle. They then proceeded to use the contents to charge up to $20,000 on the cards. Savannah Police are asking for help to identify the persons or vehicles. If you have any information please call Lt. On December 1st at around 1:45pm-1:50pm this truck was traveling west bound crossed the center line and struck another vehicle. This occurred at the intersection of 1000 W Nelson and South 9th St. Terrace. If you have any information regarding this vehicle and the person who owns it, please reach out to Lt.
