To address the post on the Andrew County Crime Page. There was not a shooting at Messick Park today or in the recent past. The park is still open to public use. We are not sure where this rumor stems from, however we assure you that it is just a rumor.

Public Safety Notice from the Savannah Police Department

The Savannah Police Department is continuing to address ongoing concerns regarding minors operating dirt bikes in a careless and unsafe manner within city limits.

Despite prior warnings, these dangerous behaviors persist. Please be advised: moving forward, any individual operating a dirt bike recklessly will have their vehicle towed — no additional warnings will be given.

Just yesterday, a minor narrowly avoided a serious collision after nearly striking another vehicle head-on at a high rate of speed. Incidents like this put both the rider and others in our community at serious risk.

We ask all parents and guardians to speak with their children about safe and lawful operation of motorized vehicles. Let’s work together to keep our streets and neighborhoods safe for everyone.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Savannah Police Department is still accepting applications for a full time Police Officer. Apply in person or at Savannah Missouri City Hall.

Reminder-Ordinance 375.090 states no person shall operate a motorized bicycle on any highway, street, or roads in the City unless the person has a valid license to operate a motor vehicle.

Ordinance 380.020 section 2 states operate a motorcycle or motor tricycle upon a highway of this city must have a valid motorcycle license.

Missouri’s statute 302.010 defines a motor vehicle as an any self-propelled vehicle.

This includes electric dirt bikes.

If you are stopped by a Savannah Police Officer expect a summons on first offense. Second offense will result in a summons and the vehicle or motorcycle being towed at the owner's expense.

We have had multiple complaints of small dirt bikes riding carelessly through town.
