Registration is now open for the Champaign County Residential Electronics Collection (CREC) event, 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at Parkland College.

To attend the CREC event, residents of Champaign County *must* register online at the link above.

A list of accepted and non-accepted items can be found on the registration website. There is a four (4) TV limit per household, with a seven (7) item total limit per household.

Proposals are now being accepted until Oct. 16 for a new mixed-use “main street”-style downtown development that provides residents and visitors with a destination, and that serves as the Savoy's architectural centerpiece.

Our vision includes a compact and sustainable mix of commercial units as well as an activated gathering space. Two- and three-story buildings containing ground-floor dining, entertainment, and retail uses with upper-floor residential or office space are especially desired.

Residents and the public are invited to offer their input at one of two Community Listening Sessions from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 15 and 16 at the Savoy Recreation Center, 402 Graham Drive.

The sessions are part of a Village strategic planning process guided by the firm Arndt Municipal Support.

No RSVP or reservation is required to attend.

The listening sessions are intended to provide a welcoming and collaborative space for community members to share insights, discuss priorities, and help shape a positive path forward for Savoy.
